Bald Head Wedding

Back to reality. Bald Head Island is a little utopia. It really feels like an escape from real life with not a car in sight and everyone getting around in golf carts. There are only a few restaurants and shops on the island and everything moves at a slower pace. I can imagine that it’s a wonderful getaway for families and would be a fun summer tradition. Now, if only there was no WiFi access or cell signals…it would really be utopia!

It’s been a couple of days since I checked in so rather than give you a blow-by-blow, I’ll do photo highlights of my time on the island and of the wedding – so beautiful!

AROUND THE ISLAND

Ocean view happy hours. Cheese + crackers and wine while staring at the ocean is my idea of heaven!

Puppy overload. Three dogs and 13 people in one small house make for quite a crowd. For the record, Sullie has put herself tonight. She’s exhausted from all the playing.

Amazing weather and sunsets.

Beach time. The smile on her cute face makes my heart happy.

I love this sweet pup so much. I saw dollar signs going down the toilet as I was letting her swim and roll around in the sand after she had just been groomed but it was SO worth it!

WEDDING FESTIVITIES

Bridal brunch and lingerie shower on the wedding day.

Made to order omelets and crepes.

My plate – baked goods, Pineapple Chobani and a shrimp and veggie omelet. I had a crepe for dessert.

Getting the bride ready. I was with her when she chose this dress over a year ago. It was the very first one she tried on! I LOVE lace dresses.

Ceremony site at Old Baldy.

The groom waiting for his bride under Spanish moss.

College friends out in full force to celebrate.

Reunited with my long-lost suite mate from when I lived in the sorority house in college. She lives in California now!

The bride being bustled.

The cake.

Shrimp and grits.

Fish tacos.

My dinner. The fish tacos were incredible!

Congratulations to my dear friend Meghan. There are not even words for how grateful I am to have her in my life. I’ve said this a million times but I will never forget Josh (the groom) telling me over a beer back in 2005 that Meghan was the girl he would marry. Seven years later and those words came true!

Father/daughter dance. So much thanks to both of the families for a wonderful wedding celebration.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
