Remember how I ended my last post saying that I was a rainy morning so I was going to visit CrossFit Fort Walton? Well, I drove over there for the 9:30 class and no one showed to teach it! There were like four of us waiting in the rain in the parking lot. Boo. There was no announcement on their website that classes were cancelled so I don’t know what was going on.
The only bright side to it all was that there was a Starbucks right down the road so I grabbed a soy latte and then came home to tackle my own workout. Here’s what happened.
5K run for time – finished in 25:13.
THEN
10 – 1 (start with 10 reps of each exercise and count down to 1)
Burpees
Air Squats
Push Ups
Sit Ups
I finished that in 7:37.
Workout success! I was absolutely dripping in sweat after the 5K run. Even with overcast skies the humidity was killer.
Post-workout lunch was a repeat of yesterday’s sandwich with the exception of toasting the bread and melting the cheese on this one. I am loving this combination. I am also loving cherries and watermelon. I ate tons of both over the course of the day.
It finally cleared up enough to make it out to the beach around 2 and by the time I came in at 5 it was absolutely beautiful. I spent my time on the beach napping and reading before having to head in to take care of some work things.
We stayed in for dinner last night and it was just what I needed! The only time I left the condo yesterday was for my failed CrossFit attempt and I’m happy with that! I am enjoying moving between bed, the beach and the condo. I started my meal with a salad to get some green stuff in.
But who cares about the salad when you have this as a main event! We did a low country boil and enjoyed it out on the patio as the sun was setting. Perfection! My dad went out to the seafood market and got some huge Gulf shrimp. We added spicy andouille sausage, corn and potatoes to the pot with Zataran’s shrimp and crab boil and had French bread on the side. This is one of my most favorite beach dinners!
After we cleaned up, my dad suggested a walk on the beach and it sounded like the perfect after-dinner activity. We ended up taking a pretty long walk as we chatted. It was so relaxing.
The walk also made room for a big bowl of ice cream. I picked up a half-gallon of Publix’s Cookies and Cream Ice Cream at the grocery the other day. It is one of my favorite ice creams ever (only the Publix brand – it is packed with cookies!). It was a favorite treat when I lived in Birmingham where we had Publix as our main store. I’ll consider myself lucky that I can’t get this ice cream in Charlotte!
It’s a beautiful day. Off to run and then beach it all day! I see lots of swimming in my future. We’re going to one of our favorite restaurants tonight that was a yearly tradition growing up for our “nice dinner out” so I can’t wait to share it with you tomorrow! I have some good and embarrassing stories about this place to tell you…and I’ll make sure my hair is extra curly and get a picture for ya. 😉
Have a great weekend!
