One of the perks of my job (there are too many to list!) is that I can bring Sullie into the gym with me when I’m spending time knocking out desk work. Science Daily actually just published an article about a study that shows dogs in the workplace can reduce stress and make the job more satisfying for other employees as well.
“Dogs in the workplace can make a positive difference…The differences in perceived stress between days the dog was present and absent were significant. The employees as a whole had higher job satisfaction than industry norms.”
It’s great for us both because she’s happier with me and loves all the attention and the change of scenery and I get the benefit of her cute face making me smile all day. She knows the routine of going into work with me now and the first thing she does is check to see who’s working the front desk and whether she’s getting a treat. She gets lots of visitors who stop by to pat her and even take her for walks.
I thought it may be distracting to have her there but she is so chill and just looks over the gate into the gym or out of my windows the whole time. The only negative is the dog hair cleanup required after she visits!
From the time Sullie was a baby puppy she was socialized and mobile. Anytime I can bring her along to run errands or on roadtrips, I do. She loves riding in the car.
What do you think about dogs in the workplace? And if you are a dog owner, is your dog happier at home or out with you?
Dinner last night was pizza from Mellow Mushroom. Always delicious. This was the Mellowterranean with chicken, feta, peppers, chives, olives and a white garlic sauce. Followed by some dips into the Ben & Jerry’s Greek frozen yogurt pint.
More overnight oats for breakfast today. Oats, plain Greek yogurt, bananas, blueberries, almond milk, chia seeds, cinnamon and dried cranberries.
Lunch was sauteed Swiss chard with mushrooms, smoked sundried tomatoes, a scrambled egg, goat gouda and the rest of the Grit Gravy. I could just eat this stuff with a spoon.
I tried a new brand of kombucha but the verdict is that Synergy is still my fave. I like how fizzy it is.
Trying to convice myself to jump into the CrossFit class this evening but I’m still sore from Monday’s workout so I’m being a baby about it. I need some yoga in my life but just can’t fit a class into my schedule right now. It’s so much easier to just do CrossFit since I’m already at the gym!
