After yesterday’s post about workout music I thought to myself, “they might think I have terrible taste in music.” Pop, dance and club remixes certainly have their place when I’m working out, running or teaching but they are not the soundtrack of my life. Far from it…the soundtrack of my life is actually more “cook dinner with a glass of wine and some jazz music and then sit on the couch.” I pretty much never make it out to any club and don’t even think there’s a chance of ever catching me dancing.
I love music. It’s crazy how much impact it can have on my mood. It totally pumps me up for CrossFit when the timer starts and we crank the music. I can tap into what the teacher is feeling in a yoga class by listening to their playlist. I’ve gotten into patterns where I play different types of music during different times of the day and on different days of the week. Sunny Sunday mornings call for a totally different music vibe than a rainy Monday afternoon.
I really enjoy finding new music/artists and love putting together playlists. I constantly have Pandora playing at the office and at home. Some of my favorite Pandora stations are…
– M83 Radio (more upbeat background music)
– The Cure Radio (perfect for Friday afternoons)
– Sigur Ros Radio (more chill background music)
– Mad World Radio (good background music for melancholy moods)
– Ray Lamontagne Radio (a Sunday morning staple)
– John Coltrane Radio (for above mention of cooking dinner and drinking wine)
– The Civil Wars Radio (folky and heavy on the Avett Brothers…which actually never play on the Avett Brothers station oddly enough!)
– Mumford & Sons Radio
– Florence & The Machine Radio
And here is a screenshot of some of my favorite artists/songs. I lean heavily towards folk/indie stuff.
Anyone have recommendations for new artists for me to check out? Favorite Pandora stations?
I was really sore from the Sunday CrossFit class so I took Monday as a rest day. I came home after work and made a big bowl of leftover Crockpot Salsa Chicken. I layered spinach, brown rice and salsa chicken and then topped it with shredded cheddar, avocado, sour cream and salsa. So good. Sullie and I took a walk after dinner…followed by a dip into the Ben & Jerry’s Banana Peanut Butter Greek Frozen Yogurt.
I woke up in the mood for overnight oats. I combined oats, cinnamon, chia seeds, dried cranberries, bananas and peaches and then mixed in Greek yogurt and almond milk.
And 30 minutes later, breakfast was served. I added apricot preserves and peanut butter on top. Overnight oats are the perfect summer breakfast. I enjoyed these so much more than my hot banana peach oatmeal yesterday.
A little laugh for your Tuesday.
This gem showed up in my Facebook feed last night…posted by the yoga studio of all people! So fun. 🙂
Have a good day!
