Hi everyone! I’m having a great visit with my mom. Highlights so far include Friday night pizza, a beautiful 5-mile run, eating zero (repeat zero) veggies yesterday with no veggie guilt, eating ice cream and peanut butter and jelly instead, beach time, the Destin Seafood Festival and lots of sleep.
I arrived right around sunset on Friday so we went for a walk on the beach before dinner.
We decided to keep it casual for dinner and go out for pizza at Graffiti. Friday night pizza is always a good idea in my book!
We have been eating at Graffiti since we vacationed here when I was young and I’m happy to report that it is still amazing.
We ordered salads and then split the Greek Pizza. It was topped with cheese, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, olives and feta. They were very generous with the toppings and the crust was light, crispy and chewy.
We stopped by Publix after dinner to grab some groceries and of course I had to pick up my addiction. Publix brand Cookie’s & Cream…best ice cream ever.
I went for a run on Saturday morning and made my turnaround point goal the top of a bridge. The views and breeze from the top were great .
I covered just over 5 miles at a pretty relaxed pace. It felt so nice to have the time to run with the bonus of beautiful scenery.
Overnight oats waiting for me in the fridge for my post-run breakfast.
Topped with Wild Squirrel Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Butter that I was sent to test from the National Peanut Board. It’s tasty but I really can’t wait to get into that Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter!
Then it was beach time.
The most perfect packed beach lunch imaginable. Apple slices, pb & j and goldfish. 🙂
And a fun evening out with my mom but more on that later. We’re off to breakfast!
Have a happy Sunday!

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
