But for tonight, the paint drama continues. I finally heeded some of your advice and painted onto white walls. Game changing. Thank you for the suggestion.
Picture #1 is the paint directly on the dark walls (liveable green on the left, the other two have been ruled out), picture #2 is Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray up top and Sherwin Williams Liveable Green on the bottom. Picture # 3 is another swatch of liveable green. After swearing off green, I am kind of loving it now that it doesn’t look so minty. And now I’m considering repainting the living room and hall because the gray which was actually blue is NOT growing on me as I’d hoped. In the meantime, my painter thinks I’m certifiably crazy and is texting and calling for updates on whether or not I’ve made up my mind.
Dinners have been equally as crazy as my paint selection process given that I have not restocked after the great pantry/fridge/freezer sweep of 2012. Last night I sauteed chicken, brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes and chick peas with olive oil and vegetable broth and ate it over spinach with parmesan. Random. Delicious.
I’m kind of proud of tonight’s random concoction. I had a box of Far East Basil Pearled Cous Cous. I cooked it and then added to it 1/2 of an avocado pureed in the food processor with salt, olive oil and lemon juice for a spin on the popular creamy avocado pasta that’s been circulating the blog world. Then I mixed in a chopped up salmon patty from Whole Foods, fresh parsley and baby spinach. I topped it all with parmesan. It’s not the most beautiful dinner in the world but it sure did taste great.
Oh, and today I didn’t work out because I had my hair unexpectedly cut and colored. I called to make an appointment this morning and it was either come in today or wait for weeks. I hauled my booty over there ASAP. The situation with my hair could NOT wait for weeks. And who wants to work out after you’ve had your hair freshly colored, cut and blown out? That totally defeats the purpose. Even though I had absolutely nowhere to go tonight.
While at the salon I got into a lengthy discussion with my amazing stylist Jason (who also owns the salon and has been in the biz forever) about male v. female hair stylists. I shared with him that my favorite stylists have always been men because I feel like they never pressure me to cut my long hair and have so much more attention to detail. Also, I think you have to really love hair to be a guy who does hair versus a girl who sees it as an easy choice but doesn’t have a passion for it.
Jason shared a great point that for guys it’s like building something…you have to do it methodically and just right. He also talked about the whole communication issue between men and women and how guys get that sometimes we just need to bitch about something but god forbid they try to do anything about it or change it. So much psychology in cutting hair. It was a highly entertaining appointment.
Okay, that’s enough randomness for one night. My true colors shining through. 😉
