A Productive Lazy Day

I didn’t really do much today but I am so exhausted. I almost fell asleep reading on the couch before dinner and I feel kind of lethargic in general. I was joking with my parents that when I slow down, I shut down. It probably doesn’t help that my diet has primarily consisted of sugar and carbs over the past 24 hours. I am so looking forward to reading in bed and a good night’s sleep.

Speaking of reading in bed, I started Sarah’s Key last night and I have already been swallowed up by this book. My mom saw that I was reading it today and warned that although it is good, it’s very heavy. Also, downloaded Wild by Cheryl Strayed for the drive and I’m liking it too.

Breakfast this morning was a cutie and an egg over a piece of buttered toast before hitting the gym.

I planned on taking a BodyPump class but arrived to learn that all the group ex classes were cancelled for the day. Instead I ran a 5K on the treadmill and then did the following 12/24 rep scheme workout that I programmed in my head on the treadmill…

3 rounds

12 deadlifts (95#)
24 pushups
12 kettlebell goblet squats (35#)
24 kettlebell swings (35#)
12 burpees
24 stability ball crunches

It took me about 18 minutes and was a nice quick total body strength workout.

The most exciting thing happened when I got home from my workout (and no, it’s not the turkey, brie and cranberry sandwich you see above…although I have been dreaming of that sandwich combo for weeks). My mom and I finalized all of my paint color choices AND went to Sherwin Williams and purchased the paint. I’ve since texted my painter with the news that I’m finally ready to go. HALLELUJAH! I am biting the bullet and repainting the living room and the hall because I really hate the way the color I chose looks on my walls. I’m very excited about the new colors + what I’ve picked for the bedroom and bath.

I celebrated with lunch dessert. Carrot cake!

I spent the afternoon hanging out and walking the pups. It was 75 degrees here so we spent a good hour and a half walking.

My dad made homemade spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

And I finished up my night on the couch watching the National Dog Show, eating dessert and drinking tea.

I hope it’s been a great day whether you were shopping, working or relaxing!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
