Good Food

While I’m sad to hear that so many other people are dealing with running/sports-related injuries, I am excited that so many of you are interested in focusing on mobility in December. I’ll try to share with you each day what I’m doing from a mobility standpoint and a couple of times a week I will post a video or written tutorial about a mobility-related topic. Sound good? Injured or not, mobility is such an important piece of being a well-rounded athlete. Today I foam rolled my quads and IT bands, jammed a lacrosse ball into my hips and glutes and will take a yoga class later. Thursday will be a more in-depth post about foam rolling.

Okay, now I have lots of good food to share with you. I went out to dinner with a friend last night after teaching yoga. She always takes my Tuesday night class so we try to grab dinner after every few weeks. I was thrilled when she suggested Good Food On Montford because it has a great reputation for being a fabulous tapas spot and I had never made it there before.

I loved the ambiance. Small, intimate and low light. Also, it wasn’t too noisy which seems to be a thing at a lot of tapas restaurants. I could easily carry on a conversation with my friend throughout our meal. The service was wonderful as well although I do wish the kitchen would have staggered our food a bit. They kind of brought out everything all at once. Next time I will ask!

Good Food focuses on high-quality, local and organic ingredients and their offerings change based on season and availability. We were brought bread, olive oil, balsamic and roasted garlic cloves to enjoy as we looked over the wine list and menu. I loved the wine presentation of glass + carafe.

It took us quite a while to decide what to order. Everything looked great and I seriously would have tried anything on the menu. We each got a salad to start. I chose the mixed greens with eggplant, peppers, sopressata, ricotta salata and balsamic vinegar.

House made gnocchi with mushrooms, chicken, arugula and parmesan.

Pommes frites…best decision we made all night. Perfectly crispy, salty and golden with fresh herbs and garlic.

Seared scallops with apple and bacon compote over creamy grits.

We only ordered salads + three items but the portions were so generous and we felt totally satisfied when we finished. I will definitely be returning to Good Food soon! It’s a perfect date night or girlfriend spot.

I was feeling super over yogurt and oatmeal this morning so made toast with mashed avocado, a scrambled egg and melted cheese.

And lunch today was a lot of leftovers made into a quinoa bowl. Spinach, quinoa/lentils, tofu, brussels sprouts, sundried tomatoes, hummus and greek yogurt.

That’s all I’ve got for ya. Hope it’s been a happy Wednesday!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
