Happy weekend!
1. I am glad y’all are on board with weekly fitness and yoga posts. I will kick it off on Monday! Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. I’m going to have quite an editorial calendar of topics.
2. If you are participating in the 26 Random Acts project, don’t forget that your random acts are due to me by January 21.
3. So much to catch you up on. Hold on, this is going to be a random one!
46 members in my BodyPump class at the Y on Thursday night. The energy was ridiculous. I LOVE TEACHING GROUP EXERCISE! Side note, I’m getting cycle certified in a couple weeks. More on that later! 🙂
I had a dinner date at Soul Gastrolounge after class. I got really excited about actually getting dressed in fun clothes and going out (while it’s pretty sweet to live your life in lululemon, it’s also nice to feel like a normally dressed member of society at times).
Soul has been a hot spot in Charlotte but somehow I’ve never made it there. I was excited to see what all the hype was about. It’s a tapas restaurant located in a tredy/hipster area of town and it’s always slammed with a long wait. Even after a 30 minute wait, the best we could get was a seat on the covered balcony. It was really dark so my photos were pretty subpar but I’ll show ya anyway. From left to right…pork belly tacos, garlic shrimp skewers, cheese-stuffed piquillo peppers on bruschetta, ahi tuna tacos. We also got a sushi roll but I didn’t photograph it and it was very average. So, here’s my takeaway. It was good, not outstanding. I really enjoyed the stuffed pepper but everything else was good but not great. I would like to visit again and actually sit inside. I liked the cozy atmosphere and there were a lot of other things on the menu I wanted to try. As far as tapas in Charlotte, my favorite remains Good Food On Montford.
Sullie went to the groomer for a bath and a trim. She was shaking and glued to my side when I left her…and happy as she could be with a St. Bernard and Goldendoodle when I picked her up. She was in desperate need of a little haircut. Love her little marshmallow feet.
Still CrossFitting. This morning’s workout was right up my alley. I love running and bodyweight WODs. I love that CrossFit forces you to think about strategy with your workouts. I knew that I wanted to keep a consistant pace during this WOD and do the squats, pushups and lunges unbroken. So I used the run as active recovery and didn’t try to get overly aggressive with the pace. I finished this in just over 27 minutes and was able to do all six rounds unbroken, stopping for one quick water break after round 3.
I went to a baby shower in Fort Mill, South Carolina today (separate post coming) and remembered that a Publix had just opened in the area. After the shower I went and did my shopping for the week. I can’t remember the last time I did my grocery shopping in a dress and heels versus sweaty post-workout. I felt pretty domestic. 😉 Remember my Ode To Publix?
I got a ridiculous amount of food for about $75. I am set for the week.
Told you this one would be all over the place! Now I’m off to plan for tomorrow’s yoga classes.
