I had a really awesome weekend with many highlights.
– Teaching two packed yoga classes to the amazing yogis at Y2 Yoga. They flowed, they sweated, they learned a new mantra, worked on a new deep upper backbend (more on the mantra and backbend tomorrow for yoga Monday!) and listened to this motivational speech about success by Eric Thomas while they held pigeon.
– Training one of my favorite clients at Metro Fitness Club. I am so inspired by the progress she has made in not only strength and endurance but also her presence and confidence in just a few short months. I feel lucky to have such wonderful clients.
– Saturday afternoon baking!!!
I had Peanut Butter Oreos in my pantry begging to be used for a baking project. A quick Google search for Oreo blondies landed me with these peanut butter blondies with an Oreos baked into the center.
I used this recipe from A Pinch of Yum with a few modifications. First, I used Peanut Butter Oreos instead of plain. Second, I added about a teaspoon of sea salt to the batter because it didn’t call for any and y’all know how much I liked my baked goods slightly salted. And last, I used 1/2 cup chocolate peanut butter and 1/4 cup regular peanut butter in the batter.
I took them to share with my yoga class this morning and they were all gone by the time I left the room after class. I guess they were a hit!
– Brunch with my girlfriends at Cafe Monte.
Cafe Monte is a local restaurant that features French Bistro cuisine. Their brunch is to die for and I happily accepted an invitation to go with some of my best yoga girlfriends after I taught class this morning.
I am kind of over omelets at the moment but quiche sounded perfect. I ordered the spinach florentine quiche and enjoyed every cheesy, buttery bite.
– A master class with Bryan Kest.
75 yogis braved icy roads to take a class from the founder of power yoga, Bryan Kest. He lectured for 90 minutes and then we did a 60 minute practice. The highlight of the lecture was, “people bring their shit to yoga and turn yoga to shit.” More on Kest and his view on yoga to come in a future Yoga Monday but I really enjoyed the experience. I was excited to have the opportunity to join a dinner with him on Saturday night and he’s really just a cool guy.
When I look back on my weekend I feel so fortunate to literally be living my dream. Friends, love, practicing, teaching, training, inspiring, being inspired.
I’m focusing my attention to the things that I love and everything feels like it’s falling into place. I am humbled and INSANELY GRATEFUL to get to do what I love with people I love every single day.
What was the highlight of your weekend?
