Monday + 20-15-10 Workout

Hello and happy end to Monday. I had a great day but I am so happy to be home and cooking dinner. I’m about to watch last night’s Game of Thrones and from what I’ve seen on Facebook and heard around the gym today…I’m in for a shocker! Can’t wait!!!

Just a few things to share from my Monday…

Unpictured breakfast was another smoothie. Cannot get enough lately. Spinach, berries, banana, almond milk, almond butter. So good. I drank it between taking a 6:30 a.m. yoga class and teaching a private yoga session. My practice was all kinds of bad this morning – body was lethargic – but I was just happy to be on my mat stretching and sweating. One of the things I love most about yoga is how in tune it makes you with your body. It’s so cool (and so frustrating at times) to feel the difference between “open and on” and “closed and tight.”

I ate an early lunch of a big cup of chicken, potato and poblano soup. It was so satisfying. Full of shredded chicken and the potatoes were pureed to give it a creaminess. I also shared some of my lunch dates sandwich and later in the afternoon I ate an apple with peanut butter.

I was completely shocked and thrilled when I got a message from Lululemon that they were bringing me the Contempo Jacket to product test. A short while later this jacket was delivered to me at the gym. I immediately put it on and wore it for the rest of the afternoon. More thoughts on it after I wear it more. Initial impression is great though!

Let’s get to my workout today. I programmed a nice full body circuit for me and a friend. I was in the mood to squat and lunge but wanted to get some core and upper body work in too. I’m not good at working different muscle groups on different days. I always prefer to do full body circuits.

Here’s the workout for you. It’s a good one! Just for reference, I held a 10# plate for the overhead walking lunges, did the push ups military style on my toes, kipped the pull ups, 7 front squats/13 back squats at 75# and the rest is pretty straight forward. Let me know if you have questions!

Post-workout recovery dinner was a feta and spinach salmon burger from Whole Foods along with roasted broccoli and zucchini and roasted red potatoes with tons of herbs, sea salt and topped with grated pecorino romano.

Couch + TV time!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
