Workouts this week have been good. Lots of yoga, lots of strength and little running. I’m just really not feeling the running right now.
But I did have to get some running in on Wednesday in honor of National Run Day. I did this WOD but substituted a 500 meter run for the rowing. This WOD was hard! The overhead squats totally toasted your shoulders for the burpees. And four rounds of 24 burpees is just so many burpees. Between last Thursday’s and Wednesday’s WOD, I completed 236 burpees in under 7 days. I don’t feel bad about not running…the burpees are cardio on steroids.
I recovered from that crazy WOD with a hot yoga class and then came home and made this dinner. Chicken Cordon Bleu (from Whole Foods meat case) topped with some honey mustard. Steamed green beans and sauteed patty pan squash and mushrooms on the side.
Smoothie breakfast was back. Green smoothie with kale, spinach, dates, banana, strawberries, almond milk and almond butter from Whole Foods. I LOVE that they don’t add ice to their smoothies because a) they’re not watered down and b) they’re not freezing cold.
I came home for lunch today and made one of my “throw it all in a bowl” meals. I haven’t had one in weeks so it was extra delicious. I cooked quinoa and lentils in vegetable broth and then tossed it with tomatoes, artichokes, avocado, kalamata olives and super greens (kale, spinach and chard). Topped with goat cheese and spinach artichoke hummus.
I taught BodyPump tonight for the first time in two weeks. Such a good workout. I will be sore tomorrow for sure. Recovery dinner was brown rice, salmon baked with Trader Joe’s Thai Curry Sauce and steamed broccolini, mushrooms and bok choy with soy sauce.

And last, I’ve been promising my yoga students a playlist because they’ve been liking my current selections. This is probably my favorite playlist that I’ve put together in months (and I make a new one every week). I’ve played it over and over without getting sick of it.
Have a happy Friday!

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
