Today is the best kind of birthday.
Because it’s Sullie’s! To be honest, I didn’t even remember until I got to work this morning and realized the date but luckily I had her with me so I’ve been trying to give her extra love and attention today. And yes…I realize that she has no clue that it’s her birthday but it’s special to me. She’s 7! I cannot believe it. I feel so happy that she’s still healthy, active and sweet as ever.
I took her on a little shopping spree to Pet’s Mart to spoil her with some birthday goodies. She got two new toys, duck and pumpkin treats, a new bone and peanut butter for filling the bone. She says that’s a pretty sweet birthday to her.
Believe it or not this is progress over my former craziness. I used to bake her cakes (which clearly she was thrilled about). 😆 I do have to say that I’ve never thrown her a party though. I do draw the line somewhere.

I’ve been teaching a lot of yoga and CrossFit this week. I have had to sub a lot because so many people are out for the holiday week. I am NOT complaining about this though. If I could pick one thing to spend my days doing it would be teaching. I have had several people ask why I continue to teach yoga classes outside of my full-time job when my schedule is so jam-packed but I have to. You know that talk we had about sustainability? Well, practicing and teaching yoga is one of the biggest sustaining forces in my life.

I grabbed breakfast at Whole Foods on my way in to teach CrossFit this morning. Coffee and a giant smoothie. I went for the 24-ounce Double Green today.

It’s been so rainy and gray in Charlotte all week so I stopped at Berrybrook Farm to pick up soup for lunch. They make the best homemade soups. This Inspiration Soup was calling my name. So many of my favorite things!

This was the best soup I’ve had in a really long time. It was perfectly seasoned and generous on the good stuff with so many artichoke hearts.
Okay, I promise I’ll finish the rest of my vacation posts soon! But I had to give love to Sullie today! 🙂
Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
