What is it about Target that throws any good budgeting intentions and rationale out of the window and makes a girl feel like it’s her DUTY to take a stroll through women’s clothes, home accessories and the makeup and beauty aisle? I walked into Target on Saturday to get toilet paper. I left with Charmin Ultra Soft as well as two new tank tops and four new makeup products.

Oh well. I have already worn both tank tops and I’m liking the new makeup finds.

So much so that I thought I would share them with you.

1) Maybeline Master Smoky Eyeliner in Scorching Brown

2) Sonia Kashuk Eye Quad in Shimmering Sands

3) Maybeline Lash Stiletto Mascara in Waterproof Very Black

4) Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzer

I usually stick to a selection of tried and trusted Bobby Brown or Laura Mercier makeup products but recently I’ve been experimenting with some drugstore products for fun. I would say that one of the things I dislike most about the drugstore products is the packaging. For example, I like this smoky eyeliner but it’s already falling out of the tube and I’ve only had it for three days. I find that the packaging tends to break or malfunction more often.

This shimmering sands eye quad from Sonia Kashunk us my favorite purchase, it was also the most expensive at $16 but I thought it was worth it given that I was getting four beautiful shimmery neutral shades.

8.13blushbronzer

This contouring blush and bronzer from Elf is my second favorite purchase and it was only $3! What a bargain! I am a blush/bronzer freak. If I could only pick one makeup product to put on my face, it would definitely be blush.

I like the Maybeline Master Smoky eyeliner although I much prefer Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick for a smoky eye look. And the Maybeline Stiletto Mascara definitely delivers on length but I’ve tried better mascaras that lengthen AND thicken. This mascara is perfect if you are going for lots of length but don’t need much help on volume. I need both.

All together on the face before dinner out on Saturday night (and wearing a new Target tank!). Oh, and I should mention that I haven’t dried/straightened my hair in weeks and I’m embracing the wet wave, buns and braids. I desperately need a hair cut and color! 😉

Have you made any new makeup discoveries lately? Please share!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
