Lots to catch you up on but I’ll start with a quick look at Friday. I forced myself to get out of bed for 6:30 a.m. yoga class. I had meetings all morning and a haircut scheduled for later in the afternoon so I knew that early was my only chance to get it in. Yes, I will plan workouts around haircuts!
I made a smoothie when I got to the gym with spinach, banana, dates, almond butter, mango, strawberry, almond milk and some ice. It was bright green!
Lunch was a salad with mixed greens, arugula, beets, pecans, tomatoes, dried cranberries and goat cheese with a cup of chicken tortilla soup on the side.
Fridays call for lunch dessert so I also had a peanut butter cookie.
The highlight of my day was a hair appointment for a cut and color. It had been FIVE months since I had seen my stylist so the visit was long overdue. I took a before and after to show the difference. I don’t think my hair has been so straight in months. I mentioned this last week but over the course of the summer I kind of gave up on doing anything with my hair and let it air dry and be naturally wavy . I also realized when I took these pictures that I never put on makeup yesterday. It’s definitely been a more relaxed summer for me and it feels good.
I don’t wear a lot of makeup during the week and at work but under eye concealer, blush and mascara are staples. If I do go with a no makeup look I try to at least curl my eyelashes and put on a little blush. Speaking of makeup v. no makeup…check out this blog post that shows before and after transformations by Russian makeup artist Vadim Andreev .
Do you wear makeup every day? Do you feel comfortable wearing no makeup?

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
