Help!
Today there has been a (gross) toilet on my front porch.
And I emptied my kitchen cabinets and gave them a thorough scrubbing.
Over the course of the last couple of weeks BOTH of the toilets in my house decided to quit working properly (they were ancient) and my AC died for the fifth time this summer. The company that has been coming out all summer told me it was time to bite the bullet and buy a new HVAC unit o the tune of over 5K. I decided it was in my best interest to get a second opinion and more quotes. I was THRILLED (seriously, I could have thrown my arms around the guy) to receive news yesterday from a different technician that he would recommend replacing one part for $290 and seeing how it goes. He thought my unit probably has another couple of years in it. My house is now 70 degrees and cool again and I am so grateful to have more time to budget and prepare for a new HVAC unit…because apparently all of my duct work needs to be redone too and we’re looking at a pretty major project.
My home was built in 1955 and there is so much that needs to be done to it. I could literally dump tens of thousands into improvements and it’s so overwhelming. I am trying to prioritize and do the big stuff that’s causing me the most anxiety first. I am so appreciative to own a home but it is a major responsibility!
Okay, enough of that.
I went to a little celebration get together at a friend’s house last night and brought a BBQ chicken from Whole Foods. I love this pizza and highly recommend everyone try it!
I worked at the CrossFit gym this morning and then swung by the produce market to stock up on fruits and veggies. I got so much good stuff today including heirloom tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, baby purple artichokes, squash, peaches and more.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the tomatoes…bacon, avocado and tomato sandwiches! I picked up some super thick cut bacon and sourdough bread at the grocery on my way home and made an herb mayo with basil and parsley to go with it all.
The sandwich was perfection! It was kind of a sad lunch because I hate to say goodbye to tomatoes soon but I did pick up my first mountain apples today and sliced one to go with my sandwich and it was so amazing.
Back to the home stuff for a little bit before fun tonight. My nails are red and I’m ready to cheer on the Dawgs!!!
