I received a text from a friend on Monday afternoon that another of our friends had backed out on her Muse ticket and asking if I wanted it. I immediately replied “YES!!!” I have loved Muse for years. I saw them in Atlanta a few years ago and it was one of the best concerts of my life, despite the fact that I was so sick that I had no business being at a concert. I think it’s the only concert I’ve ever sat down and drank Sprite for but it was still a memorable one!
I subbed out my Tuesday evening classes and met my friends Uptown at Fitzgerald’s around 6 to grab a drink and some apps before the show. I had a Sam Adams Octoberfest (can’t believe all the fall beers are out!) and we split an order of portobello sliders and black bean hummus. We had tons to chat about and catch up on…including our excitement about Mumford & Sons next week. Apparently, this is the month of concerts for me!
It was just a short walk down to Time Warner Cable Arena where we were quickly show to our amazing seats. I like attending events at the arena. It’s easy to navigate, clean and the concession options are pretty good. We caught most of the opening band, Cage the Elephant. I know a lot of their songs from radio but I can’t say I’m really into them but they were pretty good live.
Then it was time for Muse! If you are a Muse fan and haven’t been to a Muse concert…YOU MUST CHANGE THAT!
The creativity, visuals and sound quality are amazing. Their shows are so engaging and visually stimulating and the lead singer sounds incredible live.
They played for nearly two hours straight. The crowd was on their feet and singing along the entire time. It was loud, the lights were crazy and I loved every second. This is not a concert where you wonder to yourself how much longer before the encore. This is one where you never want it to end because the energy is so awesome.
I took a ton of photos and videos but here are two of my favorite clips…
Madness.
Resistance. One of my all-time favorite songs to run to.
The graphics they were using on screen during finale were so cool and they used a lot of imagery from Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones. Muse is a killer British rock band and we were talking after the show about how their sound seems influenced by bands like Queen, Radiohead, Pink Floyd and U2 to name a few. Again, if you have the chance to see them live I highly, highly encourage you to go!
I know I haven’t really posted any workouts, recipes or yoga tutorials lately and I promise to get back to that soon…starting with a video blog tomorrow that I was hoping to post last Friday but ran out of time for. So let me know if you have any topics you’d like for me to address.
Hope it’s been a good short week!
