Weekend Part 1: iPhones & Handstands

Hi there. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Here is a look at the first part of mine in photos.

11.8coffee

Somehow I lasted until 4 p.m. with NO COFFEE on Friday. I deserve a medal. I swung by Starbucks on my way to run errands and treated myself to a soy latte. First holiday cup of the season!

11.10iphone

The main reason for the errands was to go to the Verizon store. I had to get a new iPhone. I was still using the iPhone 4 that I’ve had for two and a half years. I’ve dropped it so many times, replaced the screen and cracked it again. The phone had reached the point where I could only use the speakerphone feature to talk because the sensors and sound were messed up. So I forked over a hefty sum at Verizon but left with a shiny new iPhone 5. I decided to get black instead of white and accepted that even though it’s not the sexiest case ever, the Otterbox is the way to go for me right now given my track record. (If anyone knows of a sleeker case that actually helps with dropping, please let me know!) So far I’m pleased with the new iPhone. It’s super fast and the display is really clear and crisp. And you can’t beat the cloud back up. I had this thing up and running in 15 minutes like nothing had ever changed.

11.8dinnerplate

Dinner at a friend’s house on Friday night. Lots of delicious but healthy stuff…salad with homemade carrot ginger dressing (SO GOOD!), grilled steak, grilled chicken, creamed spinach, eggplant and roasted cauliflower. I had all this + double the meat and spinach.

11.9break

I got up early on Saturday morning and was really productive before yoga. Breakfast was apple cinnamon oatmeal and coffee while I worked.

I had a great practice. We worked on handstands into vinyasa so I made a video. We also worked on handstand to flying splits and that was NOT video worthy! It was like handstand to right side flop. 😛

11.9salad

Lunch after class was a salad with mixed greens, smoked salmon, avocado, goat cheese, toasted pecans, carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes with homemade honey dijon balsamic. Also, a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie sandwich from Whole Foods. I spent the next five hours planted in front of the computer working on a big project.

Speaking of sitting in front of the computer, it’s 70 and sunny here this afternoon so I’m off for a quick run. I’ll be back later with weekend part 2!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
