Happy Veterans Day + Weekend Part Two

I have so much thanks and gratitude for all of those who have served and are currently serving our country. Both of my grandfathers served in the military (one was a West Point grad!) and my mom has been a social worker for the V.A. for over 20 years now. She has worked in multiple capacities ranging from drug and alcohol counseling to running homeless programs to serving as a case worker and making home visits to vets to help them stay on track and with anything they need.

Here in Charlotte I am so proud to share that Y2 Yoga participates in Yoga for Vets year round. This program is meant to help vets combat returning home and war-related stress through yoga. What an amazing program.

So picking back up with the weekend updates…

11.9cheeses

I had pretty much the best Saturday night ever. I worked until about 6:30 and then made a cheese plate with this selection from Trader Joe’s.

11.10cheeseplate

I don’t think anything can top truffle cheese.

11.9zucchini

After cheese I had a glass of wine and an appetizer before an 8 p.m. massage. These are zucchini chips.

11.9massage

Going into the massage I was having a lot of tension in my neck and IT bands. The massage was everything I wanted it to be and more. My therapist was great and I left a little after 9 p.m. feeling relaxed and unknotted. I came home and watch We Are The Millers before passing out for the night. Highly recommend this movie. It was so funny and an easy watch.

11.10lunch

I taught my 9:15 a.m. yoga class at Y2 on Sunday morning and then hit up Whole Foods for brunch which became more veggie plate lunch for me. I loved everything on my plate!

11.10salad

I spent the afternoon cleaning and working before heading out for a 4.25 mile run. The weather was awesome. We had a staff brand training meeting at the studio and then I came home and made dinner. Wild caught salmon salad with mixed greens, golden beets, toasted pecans, goat cheese, avocado, dried cranberries and homemade balsamic vinaigrette. I toasted a piece of sourdough on the side.

Lots to knock out this afternoon including a photo shoot! 😛 Off to be productive.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
