Weekend of Celebration

Last weekend was one of those special weekends full of love, fun and friends. On Friday night I attended the Tupelo Honey preview party where I ran into so many friends I don’t see often. After dinner I went to a screening of an amazing documentary that deserves its own post. I left with my heart open and couldn’t stop thinking about the film.

This weekend also marked my first classes teaching at Om Yoga. I recently picked up two new classes there – Fridays at noon ($7 karma class!) and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. I am focusing more on teaching and yoga so I want to branch out and start teaching at some new studios. Everyone was so welcoming and the studio has an amazing energy. I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach there!

I left Om and got ready for a baby shower. One of my yoga friends is pregnant with a baby girl and is due in February. I’m so proud to share that she is still rocking it in yoga and getting into all kinds of poses with that belly. I love seeing my friends practice through their pregnancies. I think it must be such a great way to be in tune with your body and your baby.

12.10desserts

There was a delicious dessert spread at the shower. Mini pecan pies…yes, yes, yes.

After the shower it was a mad dash to the mall to pick up some gifts and then home to prepare for a party I was hosting that night for a birthday. I got a little crazy with Christmas in the living room but I love it! So cozy. The best thing about entertaining during the holidays is having the house already decorated and pretty.

15 minutes before the party started I was still pulling last minute things together but I did a quick clothing change and make up reapplication and was ready to go when the guests started to arrive.

Before I knew it, I had a full house! I served a spread of various appetizers, including Katie’s AMAZING holiday guacamole. You must go and check this recipe out on her blog.

12.10drinks

Wine and cupcakes…do you really need more to have a great party?

12.10cupcakes

The cupcakes were eggnog with eggnog cream cheese and were so good and so eggnoggy. I will definitely bake these again!

The party moved outside around the fire pit as I passed out cupcakes. They went quickly!

And wrapping it up with a girls group shot. Such a fun night and great weekend overall. Happy. 🙂

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
