Happy Friday! Mine started pre-5 a.m. which is brutal on a Friday but worth it to train a great client at 5:30 a.m. After that I taught a yoga class, did some treadmill interval work and then taught another lunch yoga class at Om Yoga.
Backing up to Thursday night…I made spinach and artichoke stuff portobello mushrooms topped with parmesan panko and tomato basil sauce. Steamed kale with garlic on the side.
Breakfast this morning was a repeat of yesterday’s because it was just so good. Oatmeal with satueed pears stirred in. Today I topped it with pumpkin butter and peanut butter. I loved reading about your preferences between savory v. sweet breakfast. I WISH I craved eggs in the morning but 99% of the time it turns my stomach unless it’s the brunch timeframe. Crazy.
We’ll skip over lunch because it was a soup and salad repeat of yesterday. I had a call with the lovely Heather this afternoon to talk careers in fitness/yoga. It’s a subject that I love to talk about so if any of you ever want mentorship or just to talk, let me know! After the call I treated myself to some pampering in the way of a polish change (OPI Muir Muir On The Wall for those of you asking), a carrot cake cupcake and a brow wax. Lovely.
I had a couple hours of work to knock out once I got home and then got to work on dinner. I’ve always been a fan of staying in on Friday nights after a long week of work. It’s so relaxing to cook, drink wine, lounge and know you don’t have to be anywhere at 5:30 a.m. the next morning! Dinner was a new steak recipe with a balsamic/soy/red wine/honey/garlic glaze, sauteed peppers and onions and shredded brussels sprouts. It was amazing.
Time to power down electronics and relax by the fire and Christmas tree. Have a wonderful weekend!
Friday night…in or out?

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
