Happy weekend! Mine is a balance between hanging out and relaxing and running around trying to get the last of Christmas taken care of. This month flew by!
It is a beautiful day here in North Carolina – 72 and a little overcast with peeks of sunshine coming through the clouds.

It was too nice not to run outside so I turned on my audio book (Me Before You) and hit the road. My original thought was to do an easy three but once I started running four sounded nice. Before I knew it I was at the point to turn for four or go for five…and I kept running. It felt amazing. I didn’t stop a single time to walk and the run felt effortless. I can’t even tell you how good it feels to finally be running like this after struggling for so long. I can actually fathom the thought of running a half marathon again. Maybe this spring??? 🙂

Body and mind are feeling so good right now. I’m grateful.
And here’s the rest of the week’s workouts.
Monday
CrossFit
10 Bear Complex’s For Time & Weight
1. Power Clean
2. Front Squat
3. Push Press
4. (3) Back Squats
5. Push Press
I did my bear complex at 65# and in about 4:40. What is a bear complex you may ask? It’s the movements above linked together. I happen to have a video of it…
It’s a killer combination of movements and very effective total body training. I love it.
After the WOD I did 40 more front squats and 20 more back squats at 65# to bring my squat total for the day to 100. I recently started “Squat Mondays” where I’m doing 100 squats. They are my favorite thing to do!
Tuesday
Hot vinyasa yoga with a glorious 15 minute nap during the floor work.
Wednesday
Hot vinyasa yoga
Thursday
Hot vinyasa yoga
Friday
CrossFit
Run 800
75 deadlift (95/65)
Run 800
75 push press (45/35)
Run 800
This was a low weight, high rep workout to train muscular endurance. I finished in about 20 minutes using the RX weight.
Saturday
Run 5
Sunday
Rest or yoga…depends on how my day goes with Christmas shopping and baking.
What was your best workout of the week?
Any spring races planned?

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
