Even with the Christmas holiday this was a good workout week for me. One of my favorite things about running is that you can do it anywhere with minimal equipment and minimal time. No driving to a gym or yoga studio, you can just head out of the door and go. It’s always my default workout of choice when I’m traveling. I got a couple of really good runs in this week.
Here’s the overview of this week’s workouts.
Monday
Hot Vinyasa Yoga
Tuesday (Christmas Eve)
1 mile run + CrossFit + Squats
I warmed up one mile on the treadmill then did the following CrossFit workout.
Row 500
50 sit ups
21-15-9
Box jumps
Push ups
50 sit ups
Row 1000
It took me right at 16 minutes. I was really excited that I was able to keep a steady pace on the rower right around 2:10. Big improvement for me. After the WOD I did my squats for the week. I did 85 back squats at 75 pounds (broken up into sets of 10 or 15).
Wednesday (Christmas Day)
4 mile run
Thursday
4 mile run before leaving Georgia to head back to Charlotte, 30 minutes of yoga
Pretty running scenery in downtown Milledgeville, Georgia. This is Georgia Military College. It was founded in 1879. Isn’t the architecture beautiful?
Friday
1 mile run + CrossFit + GHD Sit Ups & Jumping Lunges
I warmed up one mile on the treadmill and then did this upper body torture WOD.
15 min AMRAP:
3 power cleans
7 pull ups
10 push ups
I did the cleans at 95 pounds which was pretty heavy for me. The only reason I could go that heavy was the small rep count. I had to try really, really hard every single rep to get it up. I actually failed twice getting my last rep up in the last round. Muscle failure is such a crazy feeling. I used a thin purple band for the pull ups and did the push ups on my toes. I ended up getting 9 rounds done in 15 minutes.
After the WOD I did five sets of 10 GHD sit ups and 10 jumping lunges to finish out my workout for the day. It was such a great day in the gym for me and my arms were shaking after that WOD. I am still feeling it two days later.
Saturday
Yoga
I kept it a light day after the running and lifting and took a 60 minute (non-heated) class before I taught at Om Yoga. It was exactly what my body needed.
Sunday
I haven’t decided yet! I’m going to walk the pup after I write this post and then maybe a run or a yoga class. I also need to clean out my closet so that may become a workout as well. 🙂
