Scenes from the Purge

Let me sum up my Saturday in one photo.

2.1closet

I have been putting off a massive purge for months and it’s finally happening this weekend. My guest bedroom has been one of those, “keep the door closed and pretend like it’s not a disaster in there” kind of situations that was really hanging over me. Lately, I’ve really wanted to feel more organized…both at home and personally. I have some big goals for the next couple of weeks involving everything from purging/cleaning to IRA stuff to creating an LLC to new car and much more. It’s time to get shit done!

On a lighter note, here are scenes from the great 2014 purge.

2.1dress

This would be a dress that I bought for my senior prom…in 2001…that I never wore. It’s moved with me no fewer than five times and still has tags on it. It’s finally making it’s way to Goodwill where it will hopefully be enjoyed this prom season.

2.1golf

Who wants to go golfing? Yes, I have had golf shoes and this lovely knee-length skirt with shorts built in taking up space in my closet for upwards of 10 years now. Have y’all ever known me to play golf? I took it for PE my senior year of college and that was the extent of my golf career.

2.1hiking

Ready to hike the Appalachian Trail.  I have two pairs of these shorts (which come all the way up to my waist and sag in the butt) since I took a big trip out west hiking/camping when I graduated for college. The headband still had tags on it but I decided to keep it because it’s soft and cozy and will be nice for walking the pup.

2.1socks

Monkey socks with no-slip grip on the soles. I still have them on now. 😉 (But they will be going to the trash!)

Photos that didn’t make this post…some very attractive knee-length bike shorts with a huge diaper-like butt/crotch pad built in, Nike tempo shorts that looked like I was going to play a college basketball game and some really horrendous long johns. I have two black trash bags of stuff to take to Goodwill and one bag of trash. Feels good!

Stay tuned for Scenes from the Purge Part 2 as I tackle my master closet tomorrow!

Do you hang on to things or are you good about purging? I seriously want to join the camp of less is more. Stat. Although I have to say that it’s simply not in me to organize/label/freakishly clean everything. Just looking for a happy medium!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
