Happy Super Bowl Sunday! (Yesterday someone asked me what I was doing for the game and I asked them, “what game is even on tomorrow?” True story.) I’m checking in with my weekly workout recap but I also have a fun giveaway for you at the end so read on!

Overall, it was a great week for me with two CrossFit WODs, two runs, two circuit workouts and four yoga practices (five if I go this afternoon). I would have liked to have subbed one of the strength/circuit workouts for a run but it was really cold most of the week so I was lacking the motivation!

Monday

4 mile run

2.2run

It was 65 degrees and sunny in Charlotte on Monday with snow and freezing temps forecasted for the next few days so all I wanted to do was soak up the sun and run. I had a great run while listening to the Fire Starter Sessions…which always puts some pep in my step.

Tuesday

Ashtanga + CrossFit class

2.2ashtanga

I’m one month in to my recommitment to ashtanga and it’s feeling so good. I practiced after I taught. Later that day I did a CrossFit class at the gym before teaching yoga. We started out with push press for the strength work. I worked up to sets of three with 85#.

WOD

4 min AMRAP: 15 push press, 10 double unders
rest 1 min

4 min AMRAP: 10 push press, 20 double unders
rest 1 min

4 min AMRAP: 5 push press, 30 double unders
rest 1 min

I have been working my shoulders a ton lately so I subbed deadlifts for the push press to get a little posterior chain work in. It was a great workout. The double unders totally crushed me.

Wednesday

CrossFit WOD + Hot vinyasa yoga

I had 10 minutes to workout between finishing coaching and going to a yoga class so I did 10 minutes of our 20 minute AMRAP.

20 minute AMRAP

5 power cleans
10 knees to elbows
15 wall balls

I got five rounds in. I think 25 power cleans, 50 knees to elbows and 75 wall balls in 10 minutes is pretty good! 😛

Thursday

Circuit Training Class + Hot vinyasa yoga

2.2circuit

My 8:30 a.m. client cancelled so I stayed at the gym to take our circuit training class. It was “snowpocalypse” themed and full of burpees. I LOVED this workout and felt amazing the whole time. I finished in just over 22 minutes and found that I didn’t need the one minute rest between rounds because I was so recovered after the sit ups, planks and wall sits. Try this one at home. Our trainer Billy who put it together is so awesome! I went to yoga after where I skipped all most of the chaturangas and all the abs. I thought I already had that covered for the day!

Friday

Hot vinyasa yoga

Saturday

2.5 mile run, Strength circuit

2.2bbpushup

I hit up the gym when I needed a break from the great purge. I ran 2.5 easy miles on the treadmill then did the following strength circuit.

20 squats (#75 bar, 5 front squats, 15 back squats)
10 pull ups (light band)
10 bosu push ups
20 bosu sit ups

Sunday

Hot yoga…on my way to class shortly!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
