This Week’s Workouts + Running Shoe Talk

I have sad news.

8.11shoes

I have been running in the Mizuno Wave Elixir for about a year and a half now. I am so in love with this shoe. After running in Brooks Adrenaline’s for 10+ pairs, I was looking for a change when they updated the shoe and it no longer fit my needs. I tried a pair of Asics but they were too much shoe for me and never felt right. I found my new perfect shoe in these Mizuno Wave Elixir’s. They are lightweight, feature a nice cushion in the heel and have just the right amount of stability without feeling overly stiff.

I had run my first pair into the ground and was starting to have a little foot pain from lack of support so I went to pick up a new pair. I was excited to find that they were on sale…but then discovered the reason when the sales person told me that Mizuno has discontinued the Wave Elixir. WHHHYYYY!!!!???? While I can CrossFit and train in the gym in just about any shoe, it is so hard for me to find running shoes that work for me. I’m SO SAD that Mizuno is discontinuing this shoe!

So I guess I need to invest in a few more pairs to have in the closet to last me for another year or two so I don’t have to embark on the shoe fitting journey again.

What is your favorite running shoe? Have you ever had a shoe discontinued?

Speaking of running shoes, I did a lot of running this week.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
