This Week’s Workouts (They Made Me Sore!)

My workouts this week were kind of all over the place due to the snow but I was sore all week! First from a CrossFit WOD and then from the snow day home workout that I did. It’s been a long time since I’ve been as sore as I was this week.

Monday

Hot Yoga

Tuesday

Hot Yoga + CrossFit

5 rounds for time:

20 ring dips
14 thrusters

This was the programmed workout for Metro CrossFit on Monday. I coached it but didn’t get a chance to do it and was excited to knock it out on my own Tuesday. I went pretty light on the thrusters at just 45# and used a thin band for the ring dips. I knew I was in trouble as soon as the workout was over. 100 ring dips is A LOT of volume for a small muscle group like the triceps. They were sore for days after! The workout took me right at 12 minutes.

Wednesday

Hot Yoga

I was able to get a practice in right as the heavy snow started falling. It was so cool to practice with snow falling down outside. This was by far my best practice of the week. Body was open and mind was ready. After class I promptly got myself home where I stayed for the next 48 hours.

Thursday

Home workout + 2 mile snow walk

I shared this workout with you guys on Thursday and I’m blown away by how many people have tried it. Thank you! One thing’s for sure…whether you did the full version or a scaled version, everyone was sweaty and sore! Keep it up! This is definitely a workout I’m going to keep in my back pocket for travel and home use. It was killer!

Friday

Hot Yoga

I was able to get back to the studio and practice and it felt great. There are not words to describe how sore my glutes were after 100 air squats, 100 jump squats and 100 jumping lunges. It hurt to sit down. Seriously.

Saturday

30 minute treadmill hill and sprint interval run

Only run I was able to get in this week due to snow. Felt nice. Good recovery for my still sore legs.

Sunday

Not sure but thinking some sort of CrossFit or strength workout with deadlifts and maybe some running to warm up.

UPDATE…it ended up being a rest day. After teaching yoga and then assisting teacher training all day…I was DONE.

What was the last workout that made you REALLY sore!?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
