Hola from Mexico! My alarm went off at 4:45 a.m. and I happily bolted out of bed to get ready for an early flight.
We have a great airport in Charlotte and I knew there would be lots of good breakfast options. It was nice not to have to choke down breakfast at home at 5 a.m. I ended up getting breakfast and Jamba Juice and ordered an apples and greens smoothie and a spinach and egg wrap.
Travel to Cancun from Charlotte is SO EASY! We left at 8 a.m. and touched down in Cancun at 10:12 a.m. local time. Direct flight on U.S. Airways. Our retreat is at Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita in Puerto Moreles. It was just a quick 20 minute transfer from the Cancun airport. This resort is incredibly beautiful and zen and I’m happy to call it home for the next week. I mean, how can you be stressed when you walk through the entry to this view?
We grabbed sushi and ceviche at the poolside sushi bar while we waited for our rooms to be ready.
One of the best features of the resort are that every single room is ocean front. Not “ocean view” or “ocean side” but ocean FRONT!
We spent a few hours on the beach before our first practice of the retreat. We met at 5 p.m. on a dock overlooking the ocean. It was so relaxing to practice in the breeze with the sun setting
Pigeon never felt so good. It was such a great practice. My body felt more open than it’s been in a really long time. That’s what a big exhale can do for you I guess!
It will mostly be business as usual around here for the next week with a few retreat/vacation posts thrown in here and there. Follow me on Instagram to see lots of beach and yoga shots! Enjoy the weekend.

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
