Let’s Catch Up

Hi and happy Wednesday. I hope this week is going well and that you’re all getting geared up for the long weekend. I wanted to write a general checking in post today to kind of let you know where I’m at and what’s going on with me at the moment. I feel like the blog has been a lot of business lately with lots of workout, recipe and food posts. Here’s a little life post for you.

From a holistic view, things are good. I’m in one of those flows right now where career opportunities overfloweth. I’ve received countless training inquires over the last few weeks and I have quite a few writing projects in the works.

One of those being a proposal for another book…help me! It’s due this week. I’m grateful that I’ve already got one successful proposal under my belt so I hope the process will be a little easier this time around. I shot a few sample shots with my photographer yesterday for the proposal. We’ll see what happens with it. I’m going to be glued to the computer for the next 48 hours! 5.21charlottemag.jpg While we’re talking career stuff, I was totally shocked to learn that I received a “Best of the Best Award” from Charlotte Magazine. What an honor to be recognized in this amazing community of health and fitness professionals! I seriously had no clue until the magazine published and I started receiving congratulatory messages. Crazy!

I totally need this tank in my life. I am sitting here totally sore from the pistols and back squats that we did in Monday’s WOD and I managed to include peanut butter in yesterday’s breakfast AND dinner! 🙂

I started watching the new series Black Box after it replaced Scandal when the season ended (tear). It’s tough for a TV show to get my attention but I’m actually really loving this one. House was one of my favorite shows of all time and while it’s not up to House standards, it is pretty good.

I’ve talked in the past about my night sweats. I’ve had them since I was a teenager. While I still have them on the regular, they haven’t been too bad for the past couple of weeks. My dreams, however, have been intensely vivid for the last few days. Like I wake up remembering them and feeling unsettled vivid. I really need to keep a journal of my sleep/dreams/sweat. I am sure I would see some sort of pattern.

And I have to leave you with the face that makes me smile every day. I hope it makes you smile too!

What do you have planned for Memorial Day Weekend?

Do you remember your dreams?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Reading, Watching, Listening (Spring 2026 Edition)

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
