This week’s workouts were pretty much the opposite of last week…last week I CrossFitted 4 times, this week I CrossFitted ZERO. Last week I did yoga once, this week I did yoga three times. Last week I rested none, this week I focused a lot on rest. Just like my post on working so hard to relax a little when it comes to food and splurging…the same thing applies for exercise. Some weeks I want to push. Others I want to chill. This was a chill week and it felt absolutely 100% right for my body.
Here’s how it shook out.
Monday
Yoga
Tuesday
Sprints + Squats + Abs
I did 20 minutes of treadmill work. 5 minutes warm up and 15 minutes of sprint intervals. I started out with 45 on/15 rest with pace in the 7’s and then worked to 20/10 in the 6’s. It felt amazing and I was a sweaty beast after. Once I was done running I did 5 rounds of 10 back squats at 75# and 20 supine toes to bar.
Wednesday
Yoga
Thursday
5 mile run
I’m so lucky to have a great Thursday running partner. She’s been pushing me out of my default 3 mile runs and up to a weekly 5-6 miler…plus…our chats are amazing!
Friday
Circuit Training Class
So many burpees. This was a short workout (right around 20 mins) but effective.
Saturday
REST
Just a little walk with my furry friend.
Sunday
Yoga+ BodyPump audition
You read that right…I’m auditioning to teach BodyPump again at a new gym in town. I have missed it SO MUCH since giving it up in January. BodyPump was the first group class I ever taught and I’ve been teaching it for over seven years now. The audition is only three tracks so it’s more an exercise in competency than a workout! 🙂 Wish me luck!
This was definitely a “step back” week for me but I didn’t feel one bit of guilt for it. No 2 a day’s and no crazy intense workouts. It was just right.
Fun note…I was featured on the BOWFLEX Blog as a one of their 10 favorite health and fitness bloggers. A big thanks to them for recognizing PBR and check out the list for some other great blog suggestions.
Tell me about your best workout of the week. Mine was definitely Tuesday’s sprint + squat + abs workout. I was sore for days but in a good way!

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
