Puppy Fever + Recent Eats + Lately

So…I have a little tinge of puppy fever.

I met up with a friend from yoga yesterday to chat and she brought her adorable golden retriever puppy, Bear, to hang out with us. We sat on the ground and cuddled like this for at least five minutes. He was so sweet and had those razor sharp puppy teeth and that soft belly. I offered up babysitting services anytime!

On a related note, I really do have a little bit of puppy fever. Sullie is turning eight next month and I’ve just started thinking about adding a second dog to give her some company and keep her active. I’m not sure that a puppy is the best choice for me given my schedule but I am home a lot during the day and almost every weekend so I could make it happen but gosh…raising a puppy is a lot of work! I have been stalking the golden retriever rescue websites. I’d be happy with an older pup too! This is not something that is going to happen in the next week or maybe even the next new months but I’m keeping my eyes and ears open should the right opportunity come around! 🙂

Mercury is in retrograde and therefor causing me to go slowly crazy this week. I’m having a super slow week with work with minimal deadlines and not as many clients as possible and it’s leaving me with large windows of open time…which I have been using for things like deciding to reorganize all of my kitchen cabinets, meeting with painters about house projects and taking care of life stuff.

On the upside, I cashed in my Starbucks free birthday drink a few days early today. (My bday isn’t until Monday but thanks to everyone on Instagram for the wishes today!). I ordered a grande soy latte (always my lucky dozen drink choice) but the barista convinced me to go for venti since it was a birthday drink. Things I do not need on a regular basis…three shots of espresso in one drink. I have been wide open today. My poor training clients this morning…

A few meals to share…farm fresh egg, turkey bacon and homemade banana blueberry muffin (went back for seconds!).

6.11salad.jpg

Lunch salad with deli chicken, an (accidentally) soft-boiled egg (which kind of ended up being delicious), cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, shredded cheese and ranch.

6.11steaksalad.jpg

Another salad with spinach, kale, arugula, fresh mozz, pecans, tomatoes, cucumbers, dried cranberries, avocado and flak steak.

6.11wrap.jpg

A wrap using one of my Mediterranean Chick Pea Burgers from MorningStar Farm along with spinach, feta, hummus, sundried tomatoes and avocado.

And I’ve eaten this flatbread for dinner the past two nights. I’m going to post a step by step tutorial on it soon. So delicious and much lighter than pizza.

Talk to me about adding a second puppy/dog?

What’s your Starbucks free drink of choice?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
