Hi! Hope you’re all having a great Sunday. I am co-hosting a baby shower for a friend this afternoon so I’ve been prepping for that today. I can’t wait to show you a picture of the cake. It’s pretty special! 🙂

Here’s last week’s workouts…

CrossFit

6 rounds for time:

8 pull ups
35 double unders
400 meter run

This WOD crushed me and was amazing all at the same time and something incredible happened during it. I was counting my first round of double unders and had gotten to 20 when I realized that I wasn’t doing my normal single, double, single, double pattern but I was actually stringing them together. It was the first time EVER! And I continued to be able to do them consecutively for the rest of the WOD. I credit having so much other crap on my mind that I couldn’t over think it. I guess I can finally bid farewell to these lovely double under lashes!

I also felt great on the pull ups and did all of them unassisted with kipping and got my chin over the bar every time. It was a great workout. And really challenging from a cardio standpoint! I finished in around 23 minutes.

Thursday

3 mile run

Friday

CrossFit

For time:

35 bear complexes with 4 burpees on the minute, ever minute

I was super excited about this WOD. I love the bear complex and I loved the idea of the burpees for some extra kick. For those of you who are not familiar with the bear complex, it’s a combination of barbell movements including a clean, front squat, push press, back squat, push press. Here’s a video:

I decided to go with the competition option for my scaling which was a heavier barbell and 1 extra burpee on the minute so I used a 65 pound barbell instead of 45 and did 4 burpees instead of three. I loved this workout. It was very mentally challenging because the first minute I knocked out the burpees quickly and was able to get in 5 bear complexes. That number went down minute by minute and at the end I was only getting 2 per minute. I can’t remember exactly but I think my finish was 11-something. I was sprawled out on the floor after this one and my triceps are SO sore. The cleans get me every time.

Saturday

Hot Yoga

Sunday

REST

It was a great week of workouts. The two rest days were necessary given the change in my schedule and overall energy levels. I know that I workout a lot in general but I really try to listen to my body and do whatever workout feels good on that day versus putting a lot of parameters around how many runs/yoga practices/WODs/etc that I get it. Keeps me happy, motivated and healthy!

Tell me about your hardest workout of the week?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
