Day in the Life Friday

Hello and happy Friday! Here’s a little day in the life for you.

4:55 a.m. – alarm goes off. I didn’t get in bed until midnight the night before due to the baseball game and then work stuff when I got home so that alarm came early.

5:30 a.m. – train my first client. I trained my friend who is pregnant…she is about three weeks away from her due date and still hanging strong with the workouts. She’s even still doing a little running. She’s an inspiration.

6:30 a.m. – my client cancelled last minute so I was left with an unusual open hour.

8.8workout

I did something I never do and jumped into the 6 a.m. CrossFit class to do the WOD. I can run and yoga in the morning but I do NOT enjoy CrossFit in the morning. My body says no thank you to high intensity in the early hours. I feel so much stronger and ready at night. But today I knew I couldn’t take the 5:30 p.m. class due to a client so it was either do it on my own later or suck it up and do 90 burpees before 7 a.m. I did the burpees. It was a tough workout!

7:15 a.m. – I walked downstairs to photograph a new restaurant that just opened in the same building as the gym for a story I was working on today for Run Charlotte Run. I grabbed a cup of coffee while I was there.

7:30 a.m. – home and make breakfast. Green smoothie. Surprise!

7:45 – 8:45 a.m.. – send out three eblasts for Metro

9 a.m. – HOT YOGA! It was my teacher Suzanne’s birthday today so I’ve had her class scheduled in my calendar all week. It was such a special practice. Her meditation teacher came in for the last 5 minutes of class and took us through a guided meditation. I left feeling as light as air.

10:45 a.m. – eat a snack of a bunch of grapes, pick up around the house and shower

11:30 a.m. – leave for Om Yoga to teach my noon Happy Hour class

noon – teach yoga

1:15 p.m. – leave studio and travel home

8.8lunch

1:30 p.m. – make and photograph lunch. It was a bed of spinach and arugula topped with roasted portobello mushrooms, a grain blend, sundried tomatoes, avocado, turkey, feta and hummus.

8.8cupcake

2 p.m. – eat this delicious key lime pie cupcake along with a cup of green tea

2:15-3:45 p.m. – blog, social media and Run Charlotte Run work editing photos and starting to write today’s story

4 p.m. – training client at the gym

5 p.m. – 30 minute break in training clients so I put the final touches on my story and loaded it in the system to publish.

5:30 p.m. – training client at the gym

8.8sullie

6:30-7 p.m. – hang out and chat with friends while rolling around on the turf with Sullie. I brought her to the gym this afternoon and she was the star of the show. She just got a bath and a haircut yesterday so she’s super soft and cuddly. I don’t think she’s gotten so many belly rubs before in her life!

7:15 p.m. – 30 minute walk with Sullie while I talked to my grandmother

7:30 p.m. – dinner prep

8.8flatbread

Dinner tonight was a fig and prosciutto flatbread topped with arugula.

7:45-9 p.m. – shower, blog, paint nails, get dressed and ready to go out

And now I’m off for a night out to celebrate a friend’s birthday! Have a great weekend!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
