In My Kitchen: Green Smoothie Video Tutorial

I know that I blog about green smoothies A LOT but over the last year I’ve gone from being an occasional smoothie drinker to having one almost every day. I used to find smoothies to be unsatisfying because I thought I needed something to “chew” and I always felt hungry after I ate them. I also used to make smoothies that tasted pretty unremarkable. Something clicked for me when it came to smoothies about a year ago and they’ve become one of my favorite things! I figured out how to make my smoothies taste delicious and have staying power. You can check out my post with 8 Tips for Green Smoothies that Look Pretty and Taste Great.

I feel like I’m constantly converting people to green smoothie drinkers…everyone from blog readers to family to friends to clients. I have even offered to go over to people’s houses to show them how to make a green smoothie that tastes good. I decided to do that on a broader scale and make a video to share with everyone! It takes me less than 5 minutes to make my smoothie every morning and I made a kitchen tutorial to show you how I make it happen, step by step.

This video walks you though making my current favorite combination, the Peanut Butter and Jelly Green Smoothie, but you can use this method for any spin you want to put on it. When it comes to staying power, the things that I find that help the most are peanut butter or almond butter, protein (from protein powder, Greek yogurt or the milk product) and dates. Adding these three things really help give the smoothie some substance.

I switch up the milk alternatives that I use in smoothies on the regular. I rotate between almond, soy and coconut. Recently, I’ve been using this Vanilla Soy Milk from Silk that includes six grams of plant-powered soy protein, 50% more calcium than dairy milk and no cholesterol. The vanilla flavor is a great compliment to the PB&J smoothie. I also really love Silk’s Almond Coconut Blend. They have great choices when it comes to dairy alternatives.

What’s your favorite way to give your green smoothie more staying power?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
