My Perfect Friday Night + Day In The Life

Hey and happy weekend! I’ve reached a new level of lame (and awesome at the same time). My Friday night has included working out, the grocery store, a walk with the pup, cooking homemade pizza, painting my nails and watching a combo of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader show and a Sex and the City marathon.

It’s not exciting. But it’s also totally perfect. Ever since I entered the working world (almost 10 years ago!), my favorite Friday nights have been those spent relaxing at home. After a long week all I want to do is hang out at home, cook dinner and unwind. I like to save my nights out for Saturday.

Sullie approves. (She’s currently passed out and snoring. I’m going to join her soon!)

Here’s a little day in the life that led me to my couch potato state.

4:55 a.m. – alarm goes off and I wake up from a crazy deep sleep due to this…

Five days later and my foot is STILL red, itching and swollen from the yellow jacket sting (sorry for the gross picture but this is the best it’s looked in days) so I have been taking Benadryl at night to help with the inflammation and the itching.

FYI: taking Benadryl at 11:30 p.m. and waking up at 4:55 a.m. is not the best combination for feeling fresh and alert.

5:30 a.m. – Arrive at the gym to train my first client and literally feel like I’m in a fog thanks to Benadryl + long week + lack of sleep. Luckily, my client was equally as tired after a week of business travel! We made for a sad combo but got a good workout done regardless.

6:30 a.m. – Train second client. I came to for this one! 🙂

7:30 a.m. – head home and eat breakfast, shower, check email.

9 a.m. – leave house to go into the Charlotte Observer for a couple of hours. I stopped at Atherton Market on the way in to pick up pour over coffee from Not Just Coffee. This was my first time going into the office all week so I was excited to put on real clothes. First fall outfit of the fall. Black jeans, black tee, scarf and my suede Toms wedges! Love these things.

9:30-11:30 a.m. – Charlotte Observer for a meeting with my boss and started on my story for the day

noon – Taught yoga at Om Yoga

1 p.m. – stayed after class to shoot my #hashtanga video for the day

9.26lunchsalad

1:45 p.m. – home for lunch. I made a salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, smoked salmon, avocado, pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, honey goat cheese, lemon infused olive oil and aged balsamic.

2:15-4:30 p.m. – cleaning, laundry, finished Run Charlotte Run story, work emails, etc. I was supposed to have a client at 4 but he got stuck at the hospital (surgeon) and had to cancel.

5 p.m. – back to the gym to train one of my favorite clients. We had a great session that included a lot of hard work and a little dancing! 🙂

I took Sullie to the gym with me because she had serious cabin fever from being stuck in the house with me all week. I can just tell when she’s bored/restless. This girl is SOCIAL! If you’ve been reading for a while, you might remember that I used to always take her to the gym with me when I was managing it. I only take her to work with me occasionally now and usually on Fridays but she goes crazy. She loves being there and gets so much attention. Today was even better because another coach had his sweet chocolate lab there. They had a great time playing!

6:15 p.m. – knocked out my own workout. 2 mile run to shakeout the legs before my long run tomorrow followed by deadlifts, abs and double unders.

7 p.m. – grocery store

7:30 p.m. – home and took Sul for a 20 minute walk while I caught up with my grandmother

8 p.m. – PIZZA PREP!

9.26pizza2

Not only do I love to stay in on Fridays but I love to eat pizza on Fridays! It’s my happy food. This was wheat dough with chicken Italian sausage, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and cheese.

9 p.m. – ate dinner and commencde bad TV, nail painting and blogging.

11 p.m. – I need to hit publish and go to bed! I’m meeting my running buddies to tackle double digits early, early tomorrow! It feels so good to be running like this again. I am excited about my long run!

Friday night…in or out? Favorite Friday night food?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
