Good morning! Here’s what I’m working with over here…

sleepysul

A grumpy golden retriever! Wednesday morning is my “sleep in morning” in that it’s the only day of the week that I start at 6:30 a.m. instead of 5:30 a.m. but apparently Sullie didn’t think 6 a.m. was any kinder of an hour than 5 a.m. When I turned the light on she curled into this little ball and would NOT get up. I called her five times to go outside and she wasn’t budging. Generally, she doesn’t like to get up before it’s light out. Ha! It’s a tough life she leads. 😉

Speaking of being up early…did you see the blood moon lunar eclipse this morning? I got to view it on my way to teach yoga and it was breathtaking. The photo above is from the Associate Press from Casper, Wyoming but it was equally as stunning here in Charlotte.

My fellow yoga teacher Blake writes this great website called Leo Moon Rising where she posts “current sky” updates regularly and what she wrote last night especially resonated with me…

“Absorb the energy this Full Moon is bringing to you, along with what this eclipse will bring – an honest look at the dark and the light in your life, your choices, and your goals.”

I recommend reading her full post. It’s good stuff. (And yes…I like astrology! :))

Blogger Group CFP

Rewinding to last night…I was lucky to spend the evening with these lovely ladies. (Katie, Jen, Ksenyia, Julie, Brittany) I organized a small group of girls to visit Carolina Facial Plastics where Dr. Kulbersh gave a very interesting and informative presentation on aging and skin care. I have been working with Dr. Kulbersh for 10 months and what I love most about him is his focus on enhancing your natural beauty. It’s refreshing! The number one takeaway from the evening was invest in a good quality sunscreen and wear it every single day! It’s the best thing you can do for anti-aging efforts and for protecting your skin. Read Brittany’s post for more Q & A.

Another thing I loved about the evening? The food. I was excited to see that the event was catered by Passion Food Catering. My favorite local catering company! On this plate we have pumpkin hummus and tabbouli tartlets with kalamata olive, brie and apple skewers with butter rum drizzle, asparagus, walnut and stilton crepe roulades, roast beef and arugula croissant bites and shrimp and snow pea skewers with a sweet and sour sauce.

And after trying one of the espresso brownies topped with cookie butter I picked up the tray and insisted everyone else do too. They were amazing!

I’ll be back later today with the apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe. Have an amazing day!

Are you into astrology? I confess to reading my yearly, monthly and weekly horoscopes on the regular.

Anyone else have a grumpy pup in the AM?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
