Friday I’m In Love

Happy Friday and happy Halloween!

Back in my advertising days I used to always have “The Cure Fridays” where I listened to The Cure Radio on Pandora as I was wrapping up my work for the week. They’re one of my all-time favorite bands.

So in the spirit of that, I present you with a “Friday I’m In Love” post.

Luna’s Living Kitchen

Luna’s Living Kitchen is a vegan restaurant here in Charlotte that has the most beautiful, organic and healthy foods. I’ve somehow ended up here three times in the last week. Lucky me. This morning I had this museli bowl.

And earlier this week I enjoyed this smoothie with bananas, maca, spinach, hemp milk, cinnamon, almond butter and cacao. It gave me inspiration to start adding cinnamon to some of my smoothies at home, especially now that it’s fall.

The Hornets

Our local NBA team was founded in 1988 as the Hornets but in 2003 the franchise name was changed to the Bobcats. Our city never fully embraced the Bobcats brand and this year the team went back to the Hornets name. It’s been a BIG deal here in Charlotte.

I went to the season opening game on Wednesday and the arena was on fire! Everyone was decked out in their Hornets gear and they went over the top in making the first game of the season a really special night. There were members of the original Hornets team in attendance and Michael Jordan (who has controlling interest in the Hornets) was on the court for the game.

10.31hootie

I was especially excited when they announced that Darius Rucker was singing the national anthem (better known as “Hootie”). He was great.

The Hornets played pretty terribly but came back from a 25 point deficit to tie the game in the last few seconds and then won in overtime. It was such a fun evening! I can’t wait to go to more Hornets games this season.

St. Vincent

I went to see the movie St. Vincent with a friend last night and it was so good! Bill Murray was spot on and the whole movie was just done really well. They casted it perfectly and each character added so much to the overall story and plot. It’s funny, poignant and uplifting. If you’re looking for a movie to catch soon, I totally recommend this one.

Baby Sullie

I posted this picture on Instagram yesterday for Throwback Thursday and it’s making me so happy. Look at baby Sullie!

8 years later and she still lets me hold her like this.

Sumo Suits

This is how we entertain ourselves at 7 a.m. at the gym on Halloween. We all took turns putting on this sumo suit.

I’m not doing anything for Halloween tonight other than passing out candy to cute trick or treaters so it was fun to get festive this morning.

What’s your “Friday I’m in Love?”

Are you dressing up for Halloween?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
