Day in the Life: One Week Until Christmas

5 a.m. – alarm

5:05 a.m. – make it out of bed to let Sullie out, make a shot of espresso and get dressed for the gym. For whatever reason, this was an especially tough morning for me and I was SO tired.

5:30 a.m. – the girls (I took both of them today!) and I arrive at the gym to train my first client. They hang out at the front desk.

6:30 a.m. – train second client

7:15 a.m. – home and despite a mile long to-do list, I get in bed and take a nap for an hour. I wouldn’t have been productive or survived the day without it. 99.9% of the time once I’m up, I’m up and I don’t nap but I needed it today.

12.19breakfast

8:30 a.m. – get up for the second time and make a tropical green smoothie topped with Nature’s Path Organic Carrot Cake Granola and feed puppies.

9:15 a.m. – teach hot vinyasa at Charlotte Yoga.

11:15 a.m. -1:30 p.m. – tons of holiday work for Metro. I had to make fliers for all three gyms for our holiday schedules and also worked on website sliders, facebook covers and other stuff like that.

12.19lunch

1:30 p.m. – lunch. A salad with spinach, arugula, turkey, avocado, walnuts, roasted sweet potatoes, dried cranberries, apple cinnamon goat cheese and a sesame ginger vinaigrette.

2:15 p.m. – Metro management team meeting

3:15 p.m. – Metro website work posting holiday schedules to all three sites

3:45 p.m. – workout. Treadmill intervals, chest and shoulders.

4:45 p.m. – home to take care of pups, answer emails, order Christmas presents online, rinse off after workout, etc.

5:45 p.m. – teach hot vinyasa at Charlotte Yoga (message is on self-care and not going into 2015 run down)

7:15 p.m. – home

12.19zoey

Zoey gets a bath, I take another shower (I just live in a constant state of dogs, sweat and hot yoga) and I get settled in for the night.

12.8cheeseplate

I had hopes of making Green Coconut Curry for dinner but defaulted to a cheese plate instead because I had a lot of work to wrap up.

8:30 p.m. – write and send out three eblasts to all the Metro Fitness CLT members about holiday hours.

9:45 p.m. – edit photos and write this blog post

10:15 p.m. – hit publish on blog post and call it a day. Know what was missing from this day? My book! Holiday is such a crazy time. Luckily, I have a lot of time carved out for it over the weekend.

Annndddd…now it’s time for bed. Tomorrow will be my only day of the week with no 5:30 a.m. client. Thank you god.

How are you taking care of yourself this holiday season? Even though my day was crazy busy, I made it a priority to carve out 45 minutes to workout. I have been really bad about that lately but I felt so much better after.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Reading, Watching, Listening (Spring 2026 Edition)

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
