Hi! It’s been a weird start to the week here in Charlotte. After an unseasonably mild winter, we were hit with some gross weather. After just talking with my co-workers at the gym last week about how we thought we’d escape winter weather this year, I opened my front door before going to bed last night and discovered this.

2.17ice

Looks like a nice light dusting of snow, right? Wrong. It was ice. Needless to say, the city was on an “ice day” today. Fun fact: Charlotte has had a snow event every year for the last 127 years.

So Zoey got her first experience with the white stuff. She was all about it and came in from the cold with turbo-charged puppy power.

We cancelled our 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. classes at Charlotte Yoga but I braved the roads to teach my 9:15. They weren’t so bad if you just drove slowly.

Unfortunately, the five-day forecast doesn’t look very promising.

But I honestly CANNOT complain after everything my friends in the Northeast have gone through. I will channel their strength when I get out of bed on Thursday morning to train clients at 5 a.m. I also have a warm weather getaway coming up this weekend so I seriously can’t complain. I’ll embrace 5 degrees with a smile on my face.

A few pics of life lately to share + a few articles I’ve loved.

2.17yoga

I have been teaching so much yoga lately…3 classes Saturday, 1 Sunday, 2 Monday, 1 Tuesday and 5 more to go before the weekend. They’ve all been super special and wonderful.

Cupcakes.

And more cupcakes. I think if this blog wasn’t named “Peanut Butter Runner” it might be “Cupcakes and Coffee” instead. Ha. I received this special delivery of a soy latte and cupcakes this afternoon. It turned my day around.

2.17blueapron

I am doing my first week of Blue Apron and I love it! Stay tuned for a full post on my experience and what I’ve been cooking up.

juice

I also recently started juicing and I’m going to have a review of the cold press juicer I’ve been using in the next couple of days.

Zoey Stretched Out

A quick pup update…Zoey is growing so fast. Look how long she is! She’s all legs…and starting to get that pretty, wavy golden retriever hair down her back.

And these two are still in love.

A few things to read…

How to Train Your Monsters via the Momastery Blog.

“We’re only envious of those already doing what we were made to do. Envy is a GIANT, FLASHING ARROW pointing us towards our destiny.”

A Broken Heart is an Open Heart via Tiny Buddha

“Know this: A broken heart is an open heart.

It is in the breaking, when our hearts are peeled back on themselves, that our truths have passage to come in and out.

If we’re lucky, our hearts will break over and over again to reveal new ways of being, of thinking, and of loving.

Each break allows our hearts to heal bigger than the time before.

Yes, there is pain every time we’re cracked open. Immeasurable pain. And with each break, each sting of pain, our hearts are able to expand and strengthen our capacity to love more and more and more.”

My Experience with Yoga Teacher Training via Erica House

She did a three week immersion and it’s interesting to read about her experience.

Question If You Still Love What You Once Loved via Danielle LaPorte…who has been on FIRE with her #truthbombs lately by the way.

“We hold on to what got us somewhere. To that which made an impact, earned us money, or accolades. We hold on to furniture and dance moves, hairstyles, eyeliner colours, ways of greeting, recipes, tactics. Smooth moves. Prayers. Ways of doing things. Plans.”

Have you had any snow yet this year?

Read anything share-worthy lately?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
