I am happy to report that I’m back in Charlotte. Today was a LONG day!

My alarm when off at 4 a.m. in Cancun. Our group of stranded stragglers met in the lobby of our hotel at 4:45 a.m. to head to the airport. (Thanks to the Marriott Casamagna for accommodating us when our trip was unexpectedly extended.)

Once we got to the airport…things got a little crazy. We were originally supposed to fly direct to Charlotte but due to the flight cancellation, we were rebooked on connecting flights. Our understanding was that we were going to Miami and then on to Charlotte but once we checked in and got to the ticketing counter, we discovered that three of us were going to Dallas-Fort Worth instead.

Long story short…after spending a solid 45 minutes with the ticketing agent in Cancun at 5 a.m., I ended up on a flight to Dallas.

The flight was nearly empty so I had a row to myself to stretch out, read, sleep and work during the flight.

Things got fun in Dallas. First, it was FREEZING so I sported this hot flip flop + sock look with no shame whatsoever for the remainder of my travel. Second, my bag never made it out to go through customs. I cleared customs sans-bag and prayed it would magically arrive in Charlotte.

All that aside, I have never flown through DFW before and it’s such a nice airport. I had a great experience there with everything from customs to transportation to food.

2.26lunch

I felt so grateful to snag a spot on a sold-out flight to Charlotte. Everything was a little crazy given the cancellations from yesterday. I ate a pretty delicious salad on the flight with grilled chicken, spinach, gorgonzola, dried cranberries, grapes and shredded carrots. I added some nuts to it along with a mix of balsamic and honey mustard.

I’m sure no one is surprised to read that my bag did not make it to Charlotte. I spent a good hour with the lost baggage people and the end result is that they have absolutely no idea where it is. It has no record of being scanned in anywhere…not in Cancun, not in Dallas, not in Charlotte. I’ve never had a bag this “lost” before so I’m a little (a LOT!) nervous!

Seeing this face helped a little. I got home and it was full speed ahead back into the normal routine. I made a super quick Whole Foods trip to restock on the necessities and then taught two back-to-back sold out classes at Charlotte Yoga. It felt really great to teach.

2.26dinner

Dinner was simple but really good. I made a big pan of roasted veggies with sweet potatoes, purple top turnips and Brussels sprouts and baked a piece of salmon along with it.

It’s been a long day and I am falling asleep while typing this…I have 5:30 a.m. clients tomorrow so I need to get to bed.

Have you ever dealt with lost luggage? How did you deal?

Have you ever tried roasted turnips? I just started making them recently and love them!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
