This has been a really great weekend. I’ve been trying to spend as much time outside as possible because the weather has been incredible. It’s 70 and sunny right now!

zoey rosemary

I’m currently sitting outside and working. Zoey is playing in the rosemary bush and Sullie is sun bathing.

spring nail polish

I had a pretty awesome Saturday. I taught my hot vinyasa classes at Charlotte Yoga and Om Yoga and then came home and went for a run. After cleaning the house I celebrated the arrival of spring weather with a polish change. I did mint green on my fingers and purple on my toes. Both colors are from OPIs new spring Hawaii collection. The mint green is “That’s Hula-rious” and the purple is “Hello Hawaii Ya.” (What if your job was to come up with their color names…?)

After I got my nails done I took the dogs to the park to play. Funny story…for Sullie’s whole life we’ve always called her the “worst retriever ever.” She could really care less about chasing after balls. That story changed yesterday when her sister got involved. Sullie ran like she’s never run before to chase after a ball so she could get it before Zoey. All it took was a little friendly competition to motivate her. I think she’s still exhausted today from all that sprinting! 🙂

sushi guru charlotte

My Saturday got sweeter with an evening yoga and sushi date. We went to Sushi Guru, which is hands down my favorite sushi in all of Charlotte. I’ve been eating there for 5+ years and have never had a bad experience. Everything is crazy delicious and super high quality. So if you live in Charlotte…go!

zoey upsidedown

If you missed this gem on Facebook, things got a little crazy at home late night after sushi. I was convinced I could still hold Zoey in my arms like a little puppy. Notice Sullie in the background with her “mom’s officially lost it…don’t even try to do that to me” face.

nolen kitchen brekafast pita

Although losing an hour of sleep isn’t the best thing ever…the extra hour of daylight is. I am SO EXCITED that daylight savings time is finally upon us. I taught yoga this morning, met a friend for a run and then met TeriLyn for brunch at Nolen Kitchen. We sat outside and spent a couple of hours catching up on life.

And now to jump to a quick recap of last week’s workouts. The highlight was lots of yoga! I practiced every day except for today. Yay! I also got 15 miles of running in. Double yay!

Monday

3.5 mile run + 30 mins of hot yoga

Thank god for my RunKeeper app because I couldn’t remember for the life of me what I did on Monday!

Tuesday

Hot yoga

Wednesday

3 mile run + hot yoga

Thursday

1 mile treadmill run to warm up + strength/core + CrossFit + 30 mins hot yoga

5 rounds:
– 20 back squats @ 75#
– 15 v-ups

21-15-9
Pull ups
Burpees
Box Jumps

I finished the WOD in 8:34 RX. This combo of bodyweight movements kept my heart rate up sky high. It was a quick but intense WOD.

Friday

3 mile treadmill hill/interval run + strength + hot yoga

I met up with my favorite workout buddy for an awesome gym session. After the treadmill we did the following…

4 x 10 bench press @ 65#
3 x 10 single arm dead row @ 20#
3 x 10 kettlebell walking lunges, kettlebell swings, BOSU crunches and dumbbell push press
3 x 10 bicep curls and overhead triceps extension

After the combo of Thursday and Fridays workouts…I was super sore!

Saturday

3 mile run + 30 mins hot yoga

Sunday

5 mile run

Lots of activity this week but body is feeling really good. This is the best overall week of workouts I’ve had in a long time.

What did you do this weekend?

How was your week of workouts? What did you do the most of?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
