Hi!

Let’s talk about some housekeeping items and then I’ll get to TWO new playlists and weekly workouts.

2) Redirects to the App Store on Mobile

OMG. I’m losing my mind. Some of you have shared that you’re being redirected to the App Store to buy things like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans when you try to access my site on mobile. It’s happening to me too and extremely frustrating. Please, please, please know that there is nothing I can do to fix this right now and it’s an Internet-wide issue. It’s happening on tons of sites in categories from blogs to news to shopping. Apple put a fix in iOS8 to prevent the redirects on Safari. It worked for a while but the evil Internet people have figured out how to work around it and the redirects started happening again a few weeks ago. You can read more about it here. I’ll do what I can to see if I can improve it. I’m sorry!

Please consider using an RSS service to read if you are having this issue (and know it’s not a virus on your phone…just an annoying redirect). I like Feedly and they have a super easy-to-use app for mobile reading.

I continue to be amazed by how quickly things change on the Internet. I have had to deal with so many crazy tech things I never dreamed of in the last few years!

Okay, I made two awesome playlists this weekend. One for yoga and one for a cardio strength class at the Y.

I really love this yoga playlist. The first 10 or so songs make me sooooo happy! Note, the Hardwell Remix of Outside and Zedd’s Addicted To A Memory are pretty intense. I skipped them in class. They might be moving over to my cardio playlist! 🙂

This is a playlist I put together for a cardio strength class I taught today. Definitely recommend this one for your workouts!

Although my cup runneth over, I have really been missing the Y and teaching group exercise. I have been an employee of the YMCA for over 8 years and it’s truly where it all started for me. I met with my supervisor last week about teaching and subbing opportunities. It’s something I need to do for me. It doesn’t pay that much but man does it light me up. I love the Y and really want to feel connected to the organization again. I have picked up a once a month Sunday rotation for a circuit class and cardio strength class and I’ll sub when I can as well. I taught my first classes today and it felt SO GOOD to put on that microphone and teach again.

Okay, weekly workout recap. This was my “get back on the strength and circuit bandwagon” week. After 4-6 weeks of a lot of yoga, it was time to pick up the weights again. And it felt great!

Monday

15 minute treadmill run with sprint intervals, 2 miles

5 rounds:
10 ring rows
15 back squats (75#)
10 burpees
15 supine toes to bar

Tuesday

1 mile treadmill run warm up

For time:
50 double unders
25 pull ups (kipping)
15 hang snatches (55#)
500 meter row
15 hang snatches
25 pull ups
50 double unders

This was the hardest workout I’ve done in a while! My arms were shaking for an hour after. The first set of pull ups and hang snatches weren’t bad but the second set was brutal. I was able to do my pullups in sets of 5-10 in the first part of the workout but it was more like 3-5 at a time in the second set. I had done a lot of pulling movements by then. I finished in a little over 13 minutes.

Wednesday

REST (Meet the President day!)

Thursday

1 mile treadmill run to warm up

4 rounds:
400 meter run (fast sprint pace)
20 box jumps
10 handstand push ups

5 rounds:
10 GHD sit ups
10 GHD back extensions

Friday

Led ashtanga practice (kind of)

I went to the studio expecting a power class but ended up in led ashtanga instead (long story). I haven’t practiced full ashtanga primary series in over a year and I had a major mental block on the practice. After a bit of a meltdown on my mat, I got it together for the second half of the class. I used to love ashtanga but for whatever reason it’s been the last thing I want to do now. Ashtanga is a physically and mentally hard practice that puts you right up against all your crap…which probably means that I should practice it again. Now that I typed all that out…I am certain that I need to pratice it again.

Saturday

3 mile run (+teaching 3 yoga classes and a 2 hour arm balances and inversions workshop…I was EXHAUSTED!)

Sunday

Taught a circuit and cardio strength at the Y

Fellow group ex teachers, what is your favorite thing to teach?

Fellow yogis, what is your favorite type of yoga to practice?

What was your best workout last week?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
