Can you imagine spending nine months competing in a sailing race that covers four oceans, five continents and 38,739 nautical miles? Yeah, neither can I.

I recently learned about the Volvo Ocean Race. It’s the leading round-the-world sailing race and it began in 1973. It’s the biggest offshore sailing competition and the longest sporting event in the world.

This year the race features its first ever all female team, Team SCA. 15 women ages 28 to 42 were selected from over 250 applications to compete on the team. They come from all over the world and from all walks of life. You can follow them on Facebook (it’s fascinating and mind blowing!).

They started this race back in October in Spain and will finish in Sweden at the end of June. They are currently competing in Leg 5 of the race which is an estimated 20 day sail between New Zealand and Brazil.

I am seriously inspired by the strength, determination and bravery of these women as they tackle this incredible feat.

The truth is, there are women doing amazing things all over the world and SCA has launched Amazing Women Everywhere to celebrate women who have a positive impact on others. Amazing Women Everywhere is a digital photo mosaic that shares the stories of thousands of amazing women all over the world.

You can celebrate an amazing woman who inspires you by uploading her photo to the mosaic and sharing her story.

In light of the recent events in Nepal and the story I shared with you on Sunday about Pushpa Basnet and work as a child advocate, I submitted her story to the Amazing Women Everywhere Mosaic.

I never cease to be amazed by the things women are doing all over the world and it motivates me to keep pushing forward, learning, growing and doing what I can to make a difference and to be of service.

SCA believes that everyone should have the opportunity to live life to the fullest, and we are committed to creating value for people and nature. To champion these ideals, SCA launches Amazing Women Everywhere.

The women of SCA’s all-female racing team, Team SCA, exemplify this spirit. They have come from all walks of life and backgrounds to take on one of the world’s most challenging endeavors, the Volvo Ocean Race. For nine months, their journey of hard work and determination will inspire millions around the world.

We aim to gather thousands of stories from all over the world and inspire thousands more by illustrating that amazing women truly are everywhere. Visit http://www.teamsca.com/awemosaic to submit a photo of an amazing woman in your life.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of SCA. The opinions and text are all mine.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
