Hi and I hope it’s been a good week for all of you.

I’m writing a “Friday I’m in Love” post today and I must start it with this video that my mom shared with me.

This is Bretagne and she’s the last known rescue dog who served at Ground Zero. Bark Box has an ongoing program called “Dog’s Best Day” where they treat a deserving dog to the best doggie day ever. This video featuring Bretagne was published on September 9.

My fiance and I watched this on the couch last night and were both in tears. What a brave, sweet girl. So much gratitude for everyone who served.

Next up is having David Williams in Charlotte at Y2 Yoga for a four-day ashtanga weekend.

davidwilliams2

David Williams was the first person authorized to bring Ashtanga yoga to the United States from India. He spent years studying with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India and was the only ashtangi in the world practicing fourth series at one point in time. I have practiced with David one other time in Asheville three years ago and couldn’t wait to spend four whole days with him here in Charlotte.

We had the first of five sessions last night and it was magical. He started out by sharing the story of how he found yoga and ashtanga when he was graduating from UNC Chapel Hill (he’s from NC but has lived in Hawaii for the last 40+ years). He then took us through a shortened led primary series stopping to pepper us with insights, modifications and stories throughout. David’s focus is on “ashtanga yoga for the rest of your life” and he makes it so approachable, inclusive and refreshing.

It is a huge honor to host him at Y2 and to practice under him. I will share a recap of the whole weekend next week.

Switching gears, I’m also loving Costco.

9.11proteinbars

Premier Protein gifted me a membership so I could easily stock up on their bars and shakes regularly and I have loved becoming a Costco shopper!

9.11costco

Right now Costco is featuring instant savings on a variety of items from now through September 27. You can get $5 instant savings on a variety box of 22 Premier Protein Bars. The variety box includes 11 Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars (yum!) and 11 Dark Chocolate Mint.

9.11costcodish

While I was there I also got Cascade Complete ActionPacs with $3.20 instant savings.

9.11costcosoftner

500 Kirkland brand dryer sheets with $2 savings. (I think I paid something like $6 for them with the discount!)

9.11costcostarbucks

And Starbucks French Roast whole beans with $4.50 instant savings!

So get to Costco by September 27 to stock up on Premier Protein bars and many other things!

9.11manicure

While we’re taking lighter subjects, I got a free manicure while I waited for my car to be serviced at the dealership yesterday! I looked at the service guy like he had two heads when he told me I could enjoy a manicure while I waited but I entered the waiting area to find a nail technician all set up. She was awesome! She soaked off my previous gel manicure and replaced it with this OPI Skull and Glossbones shade of gray. They also washed and vacuumed my car. Now that’s customer service!

Last, I’m in love with this five day forecast! I predict a lot of running happening early next week. Fall running is my favorite!

What are your favorite Friday loves?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
