Date Night at AlSol Tiara Cap Cana

One of my favorite things about vacation is that every night is date night! I only get to put on a dress and heels on (few and far between) special occasions in my day-to-day life so I always use vacation as an excuse to pack all of my favorite cocktail and sun dresses in my suitcase.

Here are some of my evening outfits from our recent trip.

Clockwise from left: 1. BCBG Generation Asymmetrical Dress, sold out but here is a similar style with J. Slides Gold Wedges. 2. Black tank from Target, Joe’s skinny ankle white jeans and statement necklace from World Market. 3. Black lace dress from Nordstrom (love this dress!) with Steve Madden black wedges. 4. BCBG print asymmetrical dress. Sold out. 5. Aqua romper from Bloomingdale’s.

While we were at AlSol Tiara Cap Cana we were treated to a special chef’s tasting dinner. We met the GM and the head chef earlier that afternoon and they were interested in showcasing what the resort has to offer when it comes to healthy and delicious food.

We arrived for our dinner reservation and were escorted to the resort’s wine cellar where they have one private table set up for special occasions.

I think this space would be so nice for celebrating anniversaries, honeymoons or other special occasions. I loved the table decor and being surrounded by wine bottles from all over the world. The blue and white was really pretty and fresh and the feel of the wine cellar matched the modern, clean decor of the whole resort.

alsolsaladcourse

Our first course was a salad with fruit, nuts and a yogurt-based dressing.

alsolceviche

Our second course was a melt in your mouth spoonful of ceviche.

The third course was a mushroom soup that was to die for. We both cleaned the bowl.

alsolsalmon

Our main course was salmon over risotto. It was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. We both agreed that it was one of the best salmon preparations we’d ever had. And risotto is just my favorite…give me risotto and I am a happy girl.

The dessert course was pistachio ice cream served with fresh tropical fruit and chocolate sauce. It was a refreshing end to a great meal.

Although AlSol Tiara is an all-inclusive resort, this dinner was an added bonus. I can’t thank them enough for treating us to a very special date night. We so enjoyed a long dinner over amazing wine with lots of conversation. We don’t get to do that enough at home!

I can’t wait to share my full resort review of AlSol Tiara Cap Cana with you soon!

Do  you like getting dressed up for dinner? On vacation or in real life?

What’s your favorite kind of date night?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
