Last year I hosted an Instagram challenge to celebrate the release of my book, Ultimate Plank Fitness. The #UltimatePlankChallenge was 31 days of all sorts of bodyweight plank exercises with the goal that participants would improve their core strength.
The challenge was so much fun and had such great participation that I decided to do it again in 2016!
Presenting the 2016 #UltimatePlankChallenge!
I have programmed 31 days of various plank variations from my book. We’ve got full planks, side planks, forearm planks, reverse planks, stretching planks, plyo planks…all the planks you can dream of and more! 🙂
How the challenge works.
The prompt above shows a high-level overview of all the fun we’ll be having. I will post a video to Instagram the night before each challenge day that will include everything you need to know about form, modifications, reps, sets, etc. Most of the planks you see above are exercises and not static plank holds so you’ll be getting a mini-workout every day! 🙂
How to play along.
- Follow me on Instagram @jdecurtins.
- Tag a friend to join in with you.
- Perform each day’s plank and post a photo or video along with the hashtag #UltimatePlankChallenge to Instagram. Be sure to tag me @jdecurtins as well as our sponsors, @premierprotein and @trackandfieldCLT. (Note: I will not be able to see your tags if your account is set to private…but you can still join in!)
Here’s a sample post from last year. Bonus points for including dogs and babies. Haha!
Our sponsors.
I’m excited to have Premier Protein on board as a sponsor again and to also welcome The Track & Field Store Charlotte to the plank party too! Both sponsors will be providing end of challenge giveaways for participants who complete all 31 days (will be done in a random drawing) and I’ll also be giving away copies of my book as we go along!
Are you in?
The #UltimatePlankChallenge begins on Sunday, May 1! Recruit some friends, co-workers or family and get ready to plank with me! Head over to Instagram to officially commit!

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]

I recently spent four nights in Moab, Utah for a three-day stage trail race called Moab Run The Rocks. Since returning home, I’ve been telling everyone I talk to about my trip that they must put Moab on their travel bucket list (43 miles of running not required to have an amazing visit to Moab [...]
