Friday I’m In Love: Birthday Edition

Happy Friday!

My birthday this year has turned into more of a “birthday week” between celebrations with my family, friends and fiance. My BFF texted me earlier this week asking if I was up for a girl’s night (+ inviting my fiance) on my birthday to which I agreed.

Instead I showed up at 7:45 p.m. to find a house full of people. They totally surprised me! My first thought was, “Gosh if feels like we JUST did this last year. How does time go so fast?” My second thought was, “Thank god I actually got dressed tonight.” Our wardrobe for girl’s night is usually yoga pants and ponytails. It couldn’t have been a more perfect gathering of people and I don’t think I stopped smiling once the entire night.

Especially not when this big box of cupcakes came out.

Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, red velvet and carrot from my favorite cupcakery, Polka Dot Bake Shop.

Along with a really nice food spread full of delicious appetizers.

I couldn’t believe it when one of my friends walked in holding the most gigantic vase full of beautiful lilies. They rode home in the front seat with me last night and are making the entire house smell amazing.

Earlier in the day I treated myself to an iced coffee and a carrot cake cupcake from Sunflour. (You don’t have to keep count of how many cupcakes you eat on your birthday, right?)

I did get a great workout in on my birthday. I always like to get in a workout or a yoga class on my birthday to celebrate my healthy and strong body. I live in black shorts and sports bras during the summer so I ordered myself a new pair of Hotty Hot Shorts and a Free To Be Wild sports bra from Lululemon while I was ordering things for the studio. (I also think you can buy yourself a few birthday presents!)

The Hotty Hot Shorts and Free to Be Wild Bra are two of my all-time Lululemon favorites and I have both in several colors. I paired it with the Track & Field Store’s black racerback tank. I always receive so many compliments on this tank when I wear it. It’s great for summer thanks to the cool mesh design and it’s also perfect for displaying a fun sports bra. Unfortunately, The Track & Field Store doesn’t have online ordering in the US quite yet but you can call the Charlotte store at 704-362-4200 and they’ll be happy to ship one to you! It’s only $29! 🙂

I also received a little birthday treat from my friends at Wild Friends. They sent me some products from their new Protein+ line to sample. They’ve added whey protein to some of their nut butters to increase the protein by 50%. They’re a great addition to smoothies and I’ve also been dipping apples in it. You can order online and I’ve also seen some of the Protein+ products in my local Whole Foods.

And finally, grandmothers are the best. If this note was the only thing I received for my birthday, I would have been 100% happy. I’m feeling very grateful for my family and friends. <3

Have a wonderful weekend…and don’t forget to enter my Newton Running giveaway before Sunday night!
