I think I can safely say that my readers are a community of heavy laundry doers. Whether you like to work out and are always washing sweaty clothes or you have children (which from what I can tell takes laundry to a whole new level) or both (hats off to you!), laundry seems like a never-ending chore. It’s not uncommon for me to go through 3-4 changes of clothes in a day between lounge/work clothes, teaching hot yoga and getting my own workout in. Sometimes the laundry can seem overwhelming but then I put it in perspective.

Enter, the laundry responsibilities at the yoga studio. THEY’RE INSANE! With over 95 classes a week, over 300 clients a day and massages, the laundry never stops. We have two sets of LG Electronics front-loading washers and dryers and from the time we open at 5:30 a.m. until the closer leaves at 10 p.m. there is never a time when the washer and dryer aren’t running. We even have a whole daily checklist on Asana (our project management software) specifically about laundry responsibilities because they’re so intense.

We offer our students complimentary hand towels and shower towels and also have mat towels available for rent.

And every single student who comes in to take class gets a cold lavender-scented towel during savasana.

I’d  have to say it’s a tie between the cold savasana towels and the ice machine when it comes to our student’s favorite Y2 Yoga amenity. 😉

We also have a spa upstairs so there is a steady stream of sheets and towels being washed to support the spa. What I’m trying to say is…we do a lot of laundry. We see over 2,000 students every week and book over 50 massages. We actually tried to tally it up once and it’s somewhere around 150 loads of laundry every single week.

Luckily, we have two sets of powerhouse LG Electronics washers and dryers, one upstairs and one downstairs, and this week we are adding an LG SideKick™! This machine will allow us to run two loads simultaneously on one of our washer units. Washing two loads at the same time? Sounds amazing right?

The LG SideKick is a mini washer built into the pedestal drawer of front-loading LG washers (check to see if yours is compatible). It’s perfect for us because it will allow us to separate the nice yoga clothes we wash from the towels.  We are forever washing things people have left behind and staff clothes but as you know, it’s not ideal to wash your workout wear with towels. We can place our normal heavier loads in the main wash and our active wear and delicates in the LG SideKick.

*Note: we are going to unstack our upstairs units to use the LG SideKick because you can place it under a washer but you can’t triple stack with a dryer on top of that.

Here are some of my favorite features of the LG SideKick:

  • Six different wash cycles, including an activewear cycle, with various spin speed, rinse cycles and water temperatures and more.
  • Allows you to run a small load (think, that favorite sports bra you always want clean) without feeling wasteful running a full wash.
  • The LG front-load washer and LG SideKick can operate simultaneously or independently. Example, you can use one and not the other or wash one in hot and the other in cold at the same time.
