I love creating holiday-themed workouts and I thought Halloween was the perfect time for TWO Halloween-themed workouts…an indoor treadmill workout and a do anywhere bodyweight workout. You never know when that Halloween candy will have thinking, “I need to stop, drop and sweat!” (Maybe never? That’s okay too!) Also, the days are getting shorter and cooler so I know that many of us jump on the treadmill more often this time of year.
Spooky 2s Sprint + Climb Treadmill Workout
I get so bored running a flat road on the treadmill so I turn to intervals of climbs and sprints to make these interesting. All I gotta say is…good luck with this one! I think you’ll feel a bit like a zombie at the end of it. I’ve got increasing inclines interspersed with moderate runs and sprints for 32 minutes of treadmill terror…I mean fun. I’m not prescribing speeds because I think that it’s so different for everyone. Rather, I want you to try to work within the target intensity I’ve described. For some, a moderate run might be a 6.0 where for others that’s a sprint…and that’s totally okay! Make this workout work for you!
*Note: if the last jog at 10% feels like too much, make it a walk. You’ll still get a great burn from the heavy incline walk.
**Another note: I like to increase the speed on my sprints each round so that my last sprint is my fastest but that’s totally up to you!
Boo Bodyweight Workout
This Boo Bodyweight Workout features 31 reps of 10 different exercises that include upper body, lower body, plyometrics and core work. You’ll get a good amount of cardio in here along with your strength. You can repeat this workout one time through or go for two rounds if you’re feeling extra ambitious! You’ve seen most of these exercises in past workouts but let me know if you have questions about any of them or about modifications. I’m always happy to help!
Happy sweating!
What is your favorite Halloween candy?
How do you stay entertained on the treadmill?

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
