I did a good bit of food shopping over the course of the weekend. Saturday I visited the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market to catch the last of the summer produce and this afternoon I made a quick stop into Harris Teeter to grab a few more things.

Here’s a recap of what I bought at the farmers market and the grocery store along with our dinner menu for the week.

Hope y’all are having a happy Sunday!

Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

charlotte regional farmers market
  • Yukon gold and purple potatoes
  • Acorn squash
  • Tomatoes
  • Peaches
  • Burgundy okra
  • Yellow squash
  • Green beans
  • Chicken leg/thigh quarters

All vegetables and meats were from either Hoffman Heritage or Bluebird Farm, both of who grow without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or fungicides. I highly suggest supporting these farms. Bluebird’s fall CSA starts in a couple of weeks.

Harris Teeter Haul

AKA when Stacy’s are buy 2, get 3 free and HOPE hummus is on sale. 😉

  • Organic spinach
  • Organic arugula
  • Avocados
  • Lemons
  • Bananas
  • Organic sweet potatoes
  • Frozen organic blueberries, strawberries and raspberries
  • Organic eggs (none of the farmers had any at the market)
  • Whole milk plain yogurt (I’ve been incorporating some whole milk dairy back into my diet lately…all is well…remember, you can change what works for you at any time!)

Here you can see my two biggest vices…chips and chocolate! I almost always snack on pita chips or tortilla chips while I’m making lunch or dinner. Most of the time with a little hummus too. And a piece of chocolate after dinner is part of our evening routine.

If you haven’t tried Hope Foods hummus and it’s available in your area, do it! Hope and Roots are our two favorite hummus brands.

And finally, flowers and bubbly water. I almost always splurge on a weekly bouquet of flowers for the house because it just makes me feel good!

This Week’s Dinner Menu

Sunday: Leftovers

Monday: Grilled hamburgers with roasted okra with sriracha aioli and sliced tomatoes

Tuesday: Some sort of enchiladas using hatch green chiles, tomato/cucumber/cilantro salad on the side

Wednesday: Roasted chicken over potatoes, yellow squash and onions

Thursday: Sweet potato noodles with tofu and almond butter sauce (recipe next week!)

Friday: leftover, Postmates or out

Saturday: out

What summer fruit/veggie are you most sad to say goodbye to?

What are you most excited about on your dinner menu this week?

This potato and broccoli cheddar soup is a warm hug in a bowl. It’s a mash up of potato soup meets broccoli cheddar soup, and makes for a creamy, hearty and cheesy bowl that has just enough broccoli in it to make you feel like you’re getting your veggies in for a complete meal. POTATO [...]
